Memeo photo sharing comes to Mac, iPhone

If you didn't lose all of your photos with the shutdown of Digital Railroad and you still want to share them, it just got easier. Memeo, a company that offers digital media management services, announced Wednesday that it now supports photo sharing on Macs and the iPhone.

The Mac version is called Memeo Share and the iPhone version is MemeoPhoto. These applications let you share high-resolution photos and video across multiple platforms, from any of the supported devices, including PCs, Macs, and the iPhone.

Of course, you can always use e-mail to share photos with friends and family. However, Memeo makes sharing full-quality photos easier without you having to resize the pictures or send them one at a time.

The service lets you upload the photos to Memeo's Web site so people in your "Sharing Circle" can access them. Memeo gives you up to 1GB of online storage for free; after that, it costs $4.95 per month for unlimited storage, which is not a bad deal.

The MemeoPhoto application lets iPhone owners instantly share photos, both those already in the phone's gallery or ones taken with the phone's camera. The application is available at the App Store and you can download it for free.

I tried it out on my iPhone 3G and it worked very well overall, except for the one time it crashed while I was trying to add a Sharing Circle.

Other versions of the software for Macs and PCs can also be downloaded for free from the company's Web site.

Remember, you should keep your photos in multiple places, say both in your computer and in your Sharing Circle, just in case something happens to one of them.
