Video: Nintendo DSi in action

by Jeff Bakalar

Shortly after rumors began to surface about a Nintendo DS successor, the company officially announced that the next Nintendo handheld would be called the DSi and will include two bigger screens, two cameras, and would be 12 percent slimmer than the DS lite (at the expense of the Game Boy Advance slot). But perhaps what's most exciting about the DSi is the addition of a DS Store, where you'll be able to download games directly to the device (which will also have an SD slot). For a First Look at the new DSi and its store, watch the video below.

Possibly? The regular DS beats the PSP. DSi will own everything from what I've seen in this video. Making animations on it will be amazingly awesome, and the picture editor looks very robust. Hopefully the microphoe will be put to good use for talking online.

I think menu is kind of basic. I think they should have made it more like the Wii, Channels and all. It had better have proper support for different file formats regarding music, pictures. (video?). The PSP has had a long time to work out all of that and this will likely be more stripped down.

P.S. ... Skype!

The camera part is much cooler than I expected. Just that I don't really like the fact that the ds has to be opened when you have to take the picture. It's the only way to work, but it seems kinda bulky for me. But I think it is really cool.

i really don't know what they are trying to accomplish with this.

-bigger screens, more grainy?

-camera, for taking low quality photos or for use with software that won't be compatible with most DSs?

-lack of GBA slot, taking away a good feature?

-DS store, lets hope that they do a better job than with the Wii store.

-the downloadable games will be cracked within a couple of months, and then you will actually be able to play pirated games on your ds.

Well, gba is kinda dead now aint it,
if you understood japanese, then when you watched the vid, they said that they took it out to make DSi slimmer

but i agree about the camera, its crazy. Its freaking 0.3 megapixels...how dumb is that!?!?! (well my source was wikipedia on this one)

but i do not this this compares to the PSP, or even the iPod touch (used as a gaming device)
