Pantech goes thin with the Slate

Along with the Pantech Matrix, Pantech and AT&T have also launched the Pantech Slate, which the company claims to be the world's thinnest device with a full QWERTY keyboard. It doesn't have 3G or any fancy multimedia offerings, but it does have a 1.3-megapixel camera, instant messaging, email, and Bluetooth.

It will be available in black in late October for $49.99 after a two-year agreement.

For an article claiming that this is the thinnest phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, it kinda sucks! The main issue here is that there is only one picture and that one doesn['t come close to showing what this phone is supposedly famous for!
Plus, the phone kinda sucks as well! no 3G, no Multi Media, sucky camera...and the screen looks real tiny! Honestly, anyone who purchases this phone enters the realm of Poser!

you're pretty damn full of himself. Should I criticize you for not having an IQ higher than Stephen Hawking or the ability to run a 4 minute mile? No. You're just a self proclaimed web gadget guru who probably happens to be a balding, middle-aged man or a pimply faced teenager sitting in his basement ranting about the inferiority of every single tech product you didn't spend the entirety of your income, less rent and food, on. The world will be the exact same if you didn't critique tech products anymore in the hopes of pressuring these MNCs, as much as you would like to believe the contrary. Each phone serves it's own purpose, and this one is to provide qwerty messaging at the lowest price possible in a thin body. That being said if thickness isn't that big of a concern to you, get a centro or a blackjack II. Both are with AT&T, and neither has the awful and unintuitive pantech interface.

for $50 bucks it's not bad. As long as it has good call quality and battery life, then it will still be a solid phone with a good keyboard for texting and email. Not every phone is all about multimedia.

looks to be about a dollars worth of quarters thick, if that makes any sense =P

I think it is a good phone for someone who doesn't really need all the bells and whistles. I really only use my phone for texting, calls and IMing. I would get a Blackberry but I don't want to pay $30 dollars a month just to have internet access for Instant Messenger. I don't use the camera on my phone either, I have a digital camera for taking pictures. It seems like a good option for someone who wants a simple phone with a Qwerty keyboard.

Well considering I'm a teen I dont necessarily need a 'smartphone' I think this is perfect :)
