AT&T gave us a bit of good news today when the carrier announced it would add the Sony Ericsson W760a to its lineup. The W760a is the North American variant of the very excellent, and CNET Editors' Choice winner, Sony Ericsson W760i, which we reviewed earlier this year.

Features are the same between the two devices, but the AT&T version adds support for unique carrier services including AT&T Navigator and AT&T Mobile Music. The eye-catching design is also the same as the W760i, and AT&T will offer the W760a in the three color versions: black, silver, and red. The W760a is $129.99 with a two-year contract.

I want to know what happened to the Tracker Function for Jogging and the photo blogging capability as well? I just spent 2 hours on the phone with AT&T trying to figure out what happened to it but no luck. I still think it's amazing that I can buy a phone from AT&T and have an AT&T operator tell me that they don't sell them.....what's that all about? There is a huge disconnect between AT&T customer service and the retail stores. The stores really need to have a Tech Specialist on hand instead of refering every issue to a phone operator in India. As a customer I'm about fed up.

I worked for at&t tech support for 2 years (recently) and you are right about the huge disconnect between customer service and stores. BUT, issues referred to tech support reps are rarely in India. Kentucky tech team supports the entire SE region of the US. The others are located throughout the US and a couple in Canada.

About the W760a...it's a much needed upgrade from the W580i, basically the same software, but better battery life if the battery is trained properly, and much more durable. My only complaint is the time it takes to maneuver from screen to screen. Overall...I'll give it an "A" for this phone category.

What is this "limited to Radioshack for a limited time" for the silver version of it? Any ideas?

the sony w760a is a great phone except for one very dumb button AT&T thought needed to be on the from of the phone.. They put the MediaNet button on the bottom of the phone with one way to disable it. I had the phone for one day and almost very time I slid it open I went to the internet. If you have unlimited internet it fine , but if you don't like me you get charged airtime. I talk to AT&T, all they would do is block the internet. Then that make picture and Video messaging useless. One of the two companies screwed up but neither would admit it.
