Most people use their fingers to operate their iPhones and iPod Touches because Steve Jobs made sure the touch-screens of those devices were finger-friendly. But that hasn't stopped Ten One Design from making a special stylus, the Pogo ($19.99), for those of you who just don't think your fingers cut it when it comes to operating your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Ten One Design's marketing materials sum up the new stylus this way:

The sleek design of the Pogo Stylus features an ultralight aluminum body with an anodized finish and laser graphics. The soft tip glides easily over the surface of the display, making it fun and easy to sketch, draw characters, or just slide to unlock. Sized for accuracy, it does away with the awkward typos and misfires common to fingertip-only use.

Eliminating fingers has the added benefit of keeping the screen free of smudges and grease. Designed to firmly hug the contours of the iPhone 3G, the Pogo Stylus travel clip will keep your stylus close at hand. A second clip is included for the original iPhone and iPod touch.

What do you guys think? Are you not satisfied with your fingers when using your iPhone or Touch? Would this help with banging out e-mails faster with the virtual keyboard?

I personally would probably lose the thing within a month--even with that clip-on holder, which impinges on the sleek design of both products. But that's just me.

This almost defeats the purpose of having a Touch of any sort in the first place. While I'm not a fan of Apple, the whole purpose is to interact with the device. The only plus to this Pogo stylus is, as mentioned in the article, it doesn't leaves smudges. I guess if you really hate smudging up your Touch, then it would be worth it....but the price seems steep for a stick.

pretty worthless product. i have had an iphone for about 14 months and have found fingers to be both accurate and precise. why would i want to carry that aluminum stick around when i bought a touchscreen device designed for use with my fingers... which are much harder to lose by the way. also in the smudges department... 1) its gonna get smudged when you talk on it for voice calls, no way around that, and 2) ever heard of a t-shirt? gets the job done on my iphone.

Not agree with those not agreeing building this.
While surely most apps can be operate with fingers, there are apps which has benefit with stylus like iChinese. I believe there are other languages other there too. It enable one to practice learning writing/reading languages.

Question - Is Steve Jobs happy with this? :)

better check the specs and make sure it works with gloves... the stylus might still need to touch skin in order to work....

most people are forgetting about a couple of the "big" complaints about the iphone.... long finger nails... and sausage fingers...this would certainly help those people.

Also, re the whole smudges thing, Power Support's Anti-Glare Film Set covers that front. Fingerprint resistant.

Practice makes perfect, people. Even if you don't get the finger tricks right away getting a stylus guarantees you never will. Seems pointless (in warmer climes).
