Olympus 10-megapixel Stylus 1040 will make you popular, rich
(Credit: Olympus)OK, maybe it won't make you popular, or rich for that matter, but at least the Stylus won't make it look like you're smuggling squirrels in your pockets. The $199.99 all-metal camera available in black and silver models this October is the thinnest Stylus yet at just 0.65-inch thick and weighs in at just a touch less than 4 ounces. And, of course, it's chock full of convenience shooting features like intelligent scene and smile recognition, in-camera editing and panorama picture creation, and face detection for up to 16 people in a shot (so I guess you should be popular before you buy the 1040).
For those entering an experimental phase with their photography, the 1040 features Olympus' Perfect Shot Preview lets you see the effects of different setting adjustments (zoom, exposure compensation, white balance and metering) on the camera's 2.7-inch HyperCrystal LCD before the picture's even snapped.
(Credit: Olympus)Another twist to the Stylus 1040 is its storage capabilities. While there's 48MB of internal memory and Olympus' standard acceptance of xD media cards, the 1040 comes equipped with an adapter that will let you use microSD cards up to 4GB in size.

- The product page shows a slimmer .65 inch for the thickness, just an FYI.

- that .65 inch measurement doesn't account for the sliding lens cap. The manfs. always get sneaky with those specs. ;)
