Man allegedly steals bus, posts video on YouTube

Vermont is an interesting place with some very interesting residents. Brigham Young and John Deere are both said to hail from this mountainous state.

But will either turn out to be quite as fascinating as Jacob Rehm?

According to WCAX News, Rehm stands accused of illegally borrowing a $500,000 tour bus and taking it for a little spin. Rehm is a former employee of the bus company and will make an appearance in the Vermont District Court on Tuesday.

However, something else will also be making a court appearance at the same time--a video entitled "The Fabulous Bus Ride," which was posted on YouTube on November 5.

It does not appear to have been made by a concerned and civic-minded passerby. No, it is alleged to have been made by Rehm.

In the notes accompanying the YouTube posting, someone whose handle is vudushuz, says: "Vermont to Connecticut in the Middle-O-the-Night :)Originally thought about heading to Pennsylvania but... anyways, stopped in Bradford for GREAT pizza at the Exit."

As you will see from the embedded piece, the video is quite a work of art, with music by Yes and some very interesting camera work.

I wonder what the judge will think of the alleged director.

I'd give him 30 days probation for borrowing the bus and three years in SuperMax for lame, self-indulgent video-making...

Ok, I know "allegedly" is standard when someone hasn't been convicted yet, but... he publicly posted video of him doing it. Is there REALLY any question of guilt here? :P

As an exercise in avoiding prosecution this is a dismal fail but as an exercise in shameless self publicity I have to say it does possess a certain coolness factor.

So... you steal a bus. let me ask these questions:

1. How many people will think you are cool for stealing a bus?
2. Where are you going to hide this behemoth of a bus?
3. As a former employee of that bus driving company, did you honestly think that you would not be investigated?

I am going to declare this person probably had mental issues, because there is no way a person would be stupid enough to steal something like a bus, then go "joyriding".

"illegally borrowing"

Hmmm, why does that sound familiar?!? Wait, what did they used to call that?!?! Oh yea: STEALING.

What a moron, take him out behind the court and beat him with a stick for four hours.

First of all, Brigham Young wasn't all that 'interesting'- he led the mormon church in it's early years, so what? Would you call another person interesting because they headed a church?

Second of all, what an idiot. If you're gonna steal a bus, don't take a video of you with it. And post it online. And show your face in the video. I don't think this guy had his head on straight.

Third of all, I wonder who was in the seat behind the driver's, with the blanket over their face.

Fourth of all, what was with the hamsters?!

If I owned a tour bus company, I'd hire him in a heartbeat. He's got the right "vacation" attitude to drive a bus full of tourists looking to have a good time. And I'm sure he could polish his video skills with a bit of practice, too. I think it would be great to hand out a free, driver made DVD at the end of a tour.

if you read vudushuz comments (its jake himself) you will realize he did this all preplanned and intends to put the trial on youtube also. Jake wasnt that good a bus driver anyway he would constantly get lost and even ran the busses out of fuel a couple of times which is why he was fired in the first place.

VtFarmdude has no proof of any of this . He is making pointless accusations that would never hold up ina court room or in a debate match. He simply likes being insulting and rude cause he can. Iv attempted to engage him repeatedly on the issues surrounding this case and we will not even make an attempt to come toe to toe with me on the issues. he simply keeps attacking Jake .. who btw has NEVER on any piece of this said he is indeed the driver. and even if he is how could you not be at least admirable of his recent fame by doing this. Simple facts, no property was damaged, no people were hurt and nothing was really harmed by this stunt. If anyone can refute those facts be my guest

jsut used his own comments bryce from the comments section on youtube. and i dont know how you can say no one was harmed by this stunt. The owner of the bus has lost several hours tracking the bus down and he has also lost value on the vehicle due to the milage put on the bus by the "aleged" borrower. and people were put at risk and thousands of tax dollars wasted because the Vermont State Police had to search for the missing bus. thoes are facts deal with it.

Here are some facts (i just posted the same thing on youtube) there are no dates posted on this video so we have NO IDEA when any of it was shot. Could have been while he was still working for the company (after hours some drivers may or may not change back into street clothes so they can go straight from work to wherever without having to go home) .
Any value lost on the vehicle is null and void cause he OBVIOUSLY would have insurance. Because State Police had idea where to actually look they were basically just patrolling the same areas they always patrol and staying on the look out and there for the citizens who might otherwise need them were not at risk. OR .. maybe they had a tracking device on the bus and therefor would know EXACTLY where to find him and therefor would not need to follow him and waste man hours or deviate from areas where the public might otherwise need them.
Im assuming thats what you meant when you said people were put at risk ( the fact that State Police were following him that is) cause if you are honestly saying that him simply being on the road was really putting people at risk ... that is a pointless and unprovable allegation for which you have NO EVIDENCE. those are the facts ... deal with it

Jake himself admits to taking the bus. He labels the video as a "Middle-O-Night ride from Vermont to Connecticut". This is a lame attempt at publicity for an unknown wannabe musician. He obviously has mental issues. Didn't I read on youtube he is on disability, most likely mental disability. And you Bryce James Jackson of central Vermont are simply riding his coattails and adding to his warped ego. Spend a little less time with the bong and beer and grow up.

jake took the bus. he did not have permission of the owner. He video taped himself driving it. he is guilty no matter what HE or you bryce thinks. You can make up all the excueses you want. the cold hard facts will be jakes undoing. You have issues that need to be delt with too but you are young and have time. Jake is almost 40 he by now should know better.
