Take the Windows 7 personality quiz
Microsoft's Hong Kong subsidiary posted this "personality quiz" as part of the Windows 7 marketing push.
(Credit: CNET)I'm not sure how large the crossover is between those who like the quizzes in Cosmo magazine and those seeking to learn more about Windows. That said, for those who fit in that category, there's now a Windows 7 Personality Quiz.
Posted online by Microsoft's Hong Kong subsidiary, the quiz asks questions such as how long you spend in front of your PC and whether you watch videos online.
Since I own more than three PCs and spend more than five hours a day in front of my PC, I figured I'd score high, but then I realized it's not that kind of quiz. In the end, the quiz rated me as "highly defined," as one who is "open-minded and innovative."
I also have a "hug standard of aesthetics," which I think is both a typo and incorrect, as most of my friends and co-workers will tell you. Anyway, you can try it yourself by clicking here.
During her years at CNET News, Ina Fried has changed beats several times, changed genders once, and covered both of the Pirates of Silicon Valley. These days, most of her attention is focused on Microsoft. E-mail Ina.

We have a personality, sophisticated.
you're lucky that Apple fanatics haven't jumped on you :P
Only the most sheep-like of urban hipsters would try to define himself by the brand name on what should be a tool for getting things done. Does your Corolla have a 10" banner saying TOYOTA across the windshield too?
The unprovoked attack on Mac fans is stupid,"
You are correct about that
"but the immediate response of self-proclaimed "sophistication" is even more pathetic."
You are incorrect about that. It was glib, and a bit knee jerk, but pathetic it was not. Calumny will not go unpunished
That, my friend, is called advertising and promotion.
Useless as in how it promotes the product. then again advertising doesn't need to be about telling why the product is great. it just needs to attract attention.
My father wanted to ask about these Apple iPod ads he sees on TV. The original silhouettes dancing with the white earbuds. He thought it might be for some sort or clothing line. Yeah, he's not into computers at all. I suppose if you don't know what Apple makes then those ads really do fail in making any sense at all.
You bring up a good point.
And being lumped in the 21-30 age group made me feel old. :(
I don't know how much of a geek this makes me, but I honestly do not know. Hell, as I look around me in my home now, I can see eight laptops and know I have a couple of shelves of more, plus a few others in the living room and elsewhere. I don't know... perhaps 15 laptops? Desktops? Dozen or so, perhaps, but I only use a couple, a Dell and a Mac.
Yeah, I really don't know how many laptops I have. They come and go as I pick them up, refurb and give them away again to those in need.
Okie-dokie.
And now they are promoting it with a website that works like its built by a 12 year old who just got his first copy of dream weaver.
Clap....clap....clap...
I wonder.Has anyone taken this quiz and gotten a different result?
I really wonder.
By the way, I got Independence too.

- Why do these things always turn into an OS fight? Apple users are show offs, Windows users are sheep, and Linux users are geeky... Next subject, please?
