This is an update of a deal I wrote about earlier this year.
Calling all students! It's time to upgrade your backpack. I mean, seriously, you're not still using one that just carries stuff, are you?
Today only, and while supplies last, Yugster has the Powerbag 3,000mAh backpack for $48.97, plus $10 for shipping. That's after applying coupon code FREEYUGBUCK at checkout. Price just about everywhere else: $129.99.
This is one of my all-time favorite products. It's true, I still carry a backpack when I travel, and I've used this very one for the past couple years. It's awesome.
Though it looks like a regular backpack, the Powerbag stows a rechargeable 3,000mAh battery that's cleverly engineered into the bag (but also removable should it need replacing). There's an external port for charging it via the included AC adapter. And there are three plugs for charging your gear: Apple 30-pin, Mini-USB, and Micro-USB. If those don't do the trick, there's even a generic USB port for use with virtually any charging cable.
Alas, you can't recharge your laptop, but at least you'll be able to top off your phone, e-reader, or smaller tablet. You can also upgrade to a 6,000mAh battery if you want more juice, though that'll cost you about the same as the backpack itself.
On the front side there's a button that turns the battery on and off, with bright LEDs showing exactly how much power is left. Inside the bag you'll find a dedicated side-zipping laptop pocket, a Velcro-flapped e-reader/small-tablet pocket, and lots of little pockets for organizing things like pens and notepads.
This Powerbag is new and comes with a one-year warranty. Although it's a tad heavier than most other backpacks and doesn't have an external pocket for a water bottle (bad Powerbag! bad!), I refuse to travel with anything else.
Bonus deal: Game time! If you've never had the pleasure of playing the Half-Life series, here's your chance to do so on the cheap. Ending today, Steam is offering the Half-Life Complete bundle for $9.99. It includes a total of 10 games, including Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Episodes One and Two, and a bunch of multiplayer stuff. Some of these look a little dated, yes, but when it comes to story-driven first-person action, you won't find many better games.
