Sorry for the "outage" yesterday. Didn't mean to leave you hanging without your daily deal!
In the market for a printer? I've always preferred lasers to inkjets, especially when it comes to printing color documents (not photos, mind you, but documents).
TigerDirect has the HP Color LaserJet CP1215 printer for $99.99, plus around $21 for shipping. That's a whopping $200 off the list price. The printer is new, not refurbished.
The CP1215 is an entry-level, Windows-only office model, able to churn out 12 black/8 color pages per minute. It has a 600-dpi output resolution, 150-sheet input tray, and reasonably compact footprint of 15.7 by 17.8 by 10 inches.
In short, it's suitable for small offices, including the home variety. However, for a hundred bucks you have to expect a few compromises, and the CP1215 delivers. For one thing, it lacks Ethernet connectivity, so you can't use it as a shared printer (unless you configure Windows accordingly--and leave your PC running 24-7).
It also lacks a USB cable, which to me seems inexcusable in a printer with a $299.99 retail sticker.
Finally, the CP1215 comes with "bite-size" toner cartridges, according to CNET's review. That's fairly commonplace these days, but it still doesn't soften the blow when the time comes (quickly) to pony up for replacements.
Like I always say, though, ink and toner will cost you no matter what, so try to get the best deal you can on the printer. And although the CP1215 may not be the Rolls Royce of color lasers, it's definitely a bargain.
Bonus deal: Is there a Blockbuster Express kiosk near you? Enter code ESU11B (either at the kiosk or online) to get a free one-night DVD rental. That's only a buck you're saving, but, hey, free is free!
