Still using a USB cable to connect your printer to your PC? Hey, the 20th century called, and it wants its technology back!
Today only, Best Buy outlet store CowBoom has the HP Photosmart C6380 wireless multifunction printer for $39.99 (plus $5 for shipping). Amazingly, this unit is new, not refurbished, so it carries a full one-year warranty.
Update: Apologies, folks, looks like this is already sold out. But keep checking: CowBoom often adds extra stock through the day.
This is without question one of the best deals I've seen on an MFP--not just because of the price, but because of some of the features this model has to offer.
In addition to the usual printing, scanning, and copying, the C6380 offers a 2.4-inch color LCD, 802.11b/g wireless, borderless printing up to 8.5x11 inches, and the option to save scanned images to a flash drive or memory card.
Its input tray accommodates both letter-size paper and 4x6-inch photo paper, and it supports five individual ink tanks: CMYK and an oversize second black cartridge (ostensibly for everyday document printing). Very nice.
CNET's Justin Yu gave the C6380 3.5 stars out of 5, praising its fast output speed, painless Wi-Fi setup, small footprint, and overall ease of use. But he did find overall output quality to be just so-so.
As for the user reviews (both on CNET and CowBoom), they're all over the place. Some folks love this printer, some hate it. I suspect the hatred would be a lot less if you paid $40 instead of $200, the C6380's original list price.
Personally, I think this is a smokin' deal--especially considering that you're getting an entire MFP for less than you'd pay for a set of ink cartridges. (I have no doubt someone will gripe about ink prices, but don't blame me--I'm just the messenger.)
Bonus deal: Are you as giddy about the arrival of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II (PC) as I am? You can preorder it from Best Buy for $29.99 (plus sales tax)--$10 less than it'll be selling everywhere else.
