If you had been waiting for a low price on a midlevel LCD to make the jump to a flat-panel set, Sony may have what you are looking for.

Sony Style has a refurbished 46-inch KDL-46V5100 for $799.99 with free shipping, a good $150 cheaper than the closest low price for a new unit. This 1080p (full HD) unit has a 120Hz refresh rate and a dynamic contrast ratio of 50,000 to 1. This TV comes with plenty of connectivity, featuring four HDMI inputs, two component video inputs, and one PC input.

CNET's David Katzmaier gave this TV three and a half stars, saying that while its design was a bit pedestrian, it produces relatively deep black levels and accurate color in bright areas. "The commendable picture quality of Sony's entry-level 120Hz-equipped LCD makes it a very good value," Katzmaier wrote in his review.

The model is listed on the site at $1,379.99 but the price drops to $799.99 when you add it to your cart. It comes with a 90-day warranty.

The following product mentioned is available.

I have been considering getting a digital photo frame but noticed that some LCD TVs have a SD card slot. Hate to dish out $$ for a digital photo frame if using the LCD TV is a better option. Anyone out there have any thoughts?

Only higher end larger models tend to have this option. So unless you need a $1000 46+ inch picture frame just get a digital picture frame not a tv

Some lower end models have an SD card slot. For example, the Panasonic Viera TC-P42C1 42" 720p Plasma at Best Buy for $550 has one. I don't know if it has a slideshow function, but it can display photos from an SD card. I would think the point of a digital frame is for it to be on all the time and that would be costly for a tv this size.

My lower end LG LCD has a USB slot that will play photos from a USB drive. Just put the photos on a USB drive instead of a SD card. It can play mp3 from the USB drive too, for a sideshow with music.

oh, and the warranty on a NEW unit is a full year, plus you get FREE shipping.

Hmm? Maybe I should be writing a column for CNET??

And Dan7637 could use a class in manners and politeness. Guess his momma forgot to teach him "if you don't have anything nice to say..."

I believe what Dan is trying to say is that he prefers Rick's deals over the deals provided by CNET staff.

roberto:I have no doubt that's what he meant. However, how much more polite and educated did you sound in your "interpretation" than Dan sounded in his? He isn't paying a dime for the information being posted here, so if he doesn't like it - move on. CNET staff has been posting the deals here every Sunday since this 100 Days of Deals promo started. If he dislikes their deals so much, why does he bother to even look at a Sunday posting? Oh yeah - in the off-chance they do post a good deal, he doesn't want to miss out, but if they fail (in his opinion) he's quick to slam them. I think that's generally what I'd called a leech!?! As wasupjohn suggested, if he can do better - lets see it!

Best Buy has a deal for the KDL40V5100 or KDL46V5100 or KDL55V5100 with a Sony Blu Ray player for $854, $1014, or $1744 respectively. So knock off $249 for the Blu Ray and you get a very cheap 120hz HDTV.
