If you're a fan of A) music, B) The Beatles, C) Rock Band, or D) looking silly (I kid, I kid), you've no doubt had your eye on the recently released Beatles Rock Band bundle.

It normally sells for $159.99, but Amazon is offering The Beatles: Rock Band Value Edition for $99.99 shipped. It's available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.

The bundle includes the game itself, natch, along with three "instruments": guitar, drum set, and microphone. You can optionally add two more microphones and sing three-part harmonies, which sounds pretty cool.

However, much as I love the Beatles (who doesn't?), I don't really get into games like this. Of course, they obviously have their audience, and GameSpot positively loved The Beatles: Rock Band.

Walk into any Best Buy, Target, or the like, and you'll pay full retail price for this bundle. Shop online and you may be able to find it for as low as $130. Needless to say, $99.99 is a mighty sweet deal. Definitely worth considering as the holidays grow near.

The following products mentioned are available.

On Sale Now: $248.99 - $249.99

Just keep in mind that this is NOT the Limited Edition Bundle of "The Beatles: Rock Band", which includes the game itself, a Höfner Bass (McCartney's personal axe of choice), a microphone, a microphone stand, undisclosed "additional special content", and a Beatles-inspired and Ludwig-branded Rock Band 2 drum set, complete with a classic pearl finish and vintage replica Beatles kick drum head.

Instead, with the "Value Edition" you get the game plus standard-issue Rock Band faux-instruments (generic mic, drum set, and Fender Stratocaster-styled guitar). So, if you're willing to live without the extra Beatles-centric trimmings of the "Limited Edition", the "Value Edition" is a pretty good deal.

Hi pradz, are these real instruments ? Or does your faux-instruments mean what it implies?
by pradsz November 6, 2009 8:42 AM PST
Hey tolecnal - yeah, from what I understand, you basically get the same plastic guitar, usb mic, and rubber-and-plastic drum set that came with the first Rock Band game. The only difference with the Beatles Limited Edition instruments are that they are made from more premium materials, and are fashioned to look like the instruments the Beatles actually used. But, in the end, its still just a plastic game controller, not a "real" guitar or drum set.

Forgot to add Disney's G-Force to the list.

Thanks!

Too bad these are not special editions thought, just the normal one-disc editions (checked ST XI, Termninator and Harry Potter). Still a bargain! Thanks!

Too bad this is at Walmart. I won't do business with that company.

Rock Band 2 SE Bundle for Xbox and Playstation is now also $99.99 until Jan. 1. The instruments are much better than the ones you get in the Beatles Value pack.

Just out of curiosity for anyone that has the Beatles Limited Edition: What is the 'special content' the company keeps bragging on?
Trying to justify the $100 difference (other than the different instruments).

Also, anybody else believed that Paul's Beatle Bass should have been issued as a lefty? As a left myself that has had to do the 'upside-down' thing, it would be nice for these guys to throw us a bone, not to metion keep things accurate as possible.

bottle12am, the equipment is all RB1, its old wired stuff and no mic stand. i myself bought rb2 as soon as it came out to replace my rb1 equipment, rb1 drums are quite loud and the plastic foot pedal broke after 3 months. if anything your better off buying rock band2 kit and the beatles game disc.

Thanks for the tip, Rick. I didn't realize these weren't Beatles-specific instruments, but to be honest, my kids aren't going to care. I'm sure wireless would be nice, but for $100, I'm not going to be picky.

Checked out a real Hofner bass in Staten Island recently... well over $2,000.

Update: Amazon now has the same movies I mentioned earlier from Walmart for $10 each and eligible for free super saver shipping with a purchase of $25 or more. You are in luck vbowker! Sorry for hijacking your post Rick but the savings are $10 per movie and too good not to share.

Thanks!
