Get an Xbox 360 Pro bundle for $199.99--or a PS3 Slim for $254.99

That's a big bundle of Xbox goodies for just $199.99 shipped.

(Credit: Buy.com)

Putting nearly all previous Xbox deals to shame, Buy.com has a complete Xbox 360 Pro bundle for $199.99 shipped.

Until recently, it was fairly exciting to find the console alone for less than $200. The bundle includes not only the 360 (with a 20GB hard drive and HDMI output), but also two wireless controllers and three games. Unheard of, right?

Yes, this is a refurbished system. But before you run screaming for the hills, check it out: Microsoft is backing it with a full one-year warranty, same as new units. So you literally have nothing to lose by going the refurb route.

As I've said many times before, one of the things I like best about the Xbox 360 is that it pulls double duty as a Windows Media Center extender. And you can scarcely buy one of the standalone extenders for such a low price.

On the other hand, it's no Blu-ray player. If you'd rather have that, Dell Home has the Sony PlayStation 3 Slim for $254.99 shipped (plus sales tax in most states).

(Search for A3018856 to find the console, then apply coupon code 6FWJ247J1P44CK at checkout.)

The Slim's on backorder right now, but it appears you can still place orders for it. Don't want to wait? The SonyStyle store still has refurbished 40GB PlayStation 3 consoles for $236.77.

Well, game fans, over to you. Both these deals are really hard to pass up. Which console will you choose?

Thanks to reader Cary for sharing the Xbox deal!

Do they have the 3 Year Red Rings/E74 Error warranty? If so, awesome deal. If not, not worth it.

And Rick, I sent you a Zune HD deal, don't know if you got it.

No three year warranty on RRoD.

Look at the new vs. the refurb console info.

It is $219, but you get 15% off with this coupon: WFQ2V09TBGKJ21
That brings the total to $185 for the 16GB version, or $245 for the 32GB version which normally sells for $289. Additionally, both come with a $25 gift card to dell.com. It's bringing up free next day delievery for me, but, as with most dell deals, I have to pay sales tax. YMMV on shipping/tax.

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/All_MP3_Players/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=ZHD16B for the 16GB,

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/All_MP3_Players/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=ZHD32B for the 32GB.

The code expires on Wednesday, so get on this fast!

I had no problem finding it. Just do a search for the item number that Rick provided on the Dell website, then apply the code at checkout and you'll get the price he listed in his post.

Click the link to Dell.. and search for the part number "A3018856"... his steps definitely works, as I just ordered one Slim for $270 (that includes tax and shipping for me)

Thanks Rick

Looks like they pulled it down already.

Lame.

Yeah This defiantly does not work anymore; you can barely find the Slim let alone get the discount, DENIED!
Please post if you find a solution or answer. Thank JL

Dell has taken down the PS3 Slim item.

I just used this deal:

http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&lang Id=-1&categoryId=8198552921644595898

Even with the unreasonable CA Sales Tax rate of 9.75%, after the $100 credit I'm still only looking at $230 for the PS3 Slim.

And what's amazing is: I ordered it on Thursday (8/27), it shipped/was available Friday, and I got it Saturday -- free standard shipping was just as fast as paying to expedite!

Good Luck all.

This article mistakenly notes that the Micrsoft warranty on a new Xbox 360 system is one (1) year.

"Yes, this is a refurbished system. But before you run screaming for the hills, check it out: Microsoft is backing it with a full one-year warranty, same as new units. So you literally have nothing to lose by going the refurb route."

In fact, the warranty on a new system offered by Microsoft is three (3) years...not just one year. This of course is due to the incredible frequency of the Xbox 360's infamous red ring of death failure problem. The author mistakenly notes that there's nothing to lose by purchasing this refurb. In fact there is something to lose....2 years worth of warranty of which you're very likely to need.

The MS warranty on a new system is 1 year. The 3-year warranty is for RROD and E74 exclusively. The question is whether the RROD/E74 extension applies to this refurb as well, an issue on which the article is silent.

Mr. Broida, do you happen to know?

The PlayStation 3 Slim 120GB is back on the site, although I couldn't get the promotional code to go through. I used their online chat support and they said they were having problems with the code. They had their sales department call me and finish the transaction over the phone with the 15% percent discount applied. So if you're willing to jump the hoops, the deal is still on.

LMAO x10000.
Ok using WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER XP is like trying to make a car out of mud and then trying to drive it before it's done.MS should have openly pulled support for media canter if they were not going to support it instead of silently forgeting it.

Granted using extenders like media player 11/Zune/Tversity works ok.But none of these options are really worth a crap unless you want to constantly tweak them to install or use them.

The 360,wich i own and love is useless as a media center.

Good deals if you can get them.Better idea let me replace my own drive on my release model for $50 instead of making me buy the same Drive from MS for nearly $200.aHOLES.

It's about time they did something with those RRoD consoles. Seems like a smart move for Microsoft. It cna only boost the sales. However if they have the old chipset it could spell another round of bad PR. I would personally go with the PS3 deal. I was never one to believe in the huge sales lead Xbox has. Considering that in the first year half of all 360's that came into our Best Buy store were PSP exchanges. Made me happy to have went with the Wii first since I knew Nintendo would put out a solid product. I waited a year to see if the PS3 would have drive issues before I purchased one. I will have to give MS another year before I can give them my money.
