Like music? Like free music? You may remember my previous post about the mammoth library of free MP3s at Amazon (which is now nearing 1,000 tracks).

Don't stop there. Music-marketing and -discovery site ReverbNation is offering 1,000 free song downloads. No strings, no software to install, just a big fat library of free tunes.

It may take you a while to download all 1,000 free tunes, but at least the price is right.

Though sponsored by Microsoft, the giveaway makes tracks available in both M4A and MP3 format--there's not a WMA in sight. Certainly no DRM.

The songs span seven genres, including alternative, pop, jazz, and hip-hop. You can filter the list by genre or alphabetically by artist, but there's no search option. What's more, you can't download the full library at once or even batches of it; you must download each track individually.

Also, don't expect to find any Kings of Leon or Raconteurs here; the collection is largely of indie artists.

Still, free is free, and if you're looking to stock your iPod with some fresh tunes, look no further.

I've only known about this for a month now, lol. Although I don't have quite as much exposure with my thoughts as Rick does. Good find anyway.

free download,,,download free ....????...the price should also be included just like the word free...like maybe just put a dollar sign somewhere in the reading.....if people take time to download a free program and find that its not totally free that still doesnt mean that they are going to buy the product..???so why should they waste their time ....?...simple.. just add the price..or simple..just put free to try clearly ...a lot of programs are not marked clear enough for me ...i am new at this...i am sure u can tell.

Cool link, but there is a small string attached, at least in iTunes. When you play one of these downloaded songs in iTunes, a Windows advertisement constantly plays in the artwork viewer and it cannot be erased. I downloaded the album artwork which shows up fine, but the advertisement cannot be deleted. Nothing major, but still a string attached.

This is a great giveaway, but I find the interface to be a little clunky - no search feature, results limited to 20 per page, only 7 genres selectable even though there are many more listed with each individual song, etc. I made a spreadsheet that lists information about all of the available songs, including title, artist, location, and genre. You can view the spreadsheet right here:

More details on how I created the spreadsheet can be found here:
