Gonna make this quick because I'm late for the airport (San Francisco, here I come!). Amazon has the refurbished TomTom One 130 GPS for $47.98 shipped.

That's after a $20 mail-in rebate, but still. The TomTom 130 has some pretty decent features for an entry-level GPS, including text-to-speech and an optional traffic receiver.

You can also have a little fun by adding celebrity voices. Remember the Homer Simpson GPS from a couple weeks ago? You can add that voice, and many others, to the 130.

Amazon doesn't list the warranty, but because this is a refurb, assume 90 days.

I know nobody likes rebates, but when you take that into account, this is the lowest price I've seen yet on any GPS. If you don't already have a nav system for your car, you'd be crazy not to hop on this deal.

This deal looks pretty sweet but a couple questions. Based on the Amazon review it looks like this may not come with the latest maps. Also, the Amazon review seems to say that the 130S model has text to speech, but this model does not, so it would say "turn left in 50 feet" but wouldn't say "turn left on 4th Ave". I know you can't get it all at such a low price but these seem like two features I would want.

I'm planning to get an iphone 3GS within a couple months so I may wait and buy the GPS that comes as an app on that. Anyone have thoughts/suggestions?

I don't know about the specifics of this particular unit, but it would be cheaper in the long run vs. an iPhone app. If there is a monthly fee for the app like other mobile phone GPS options, it gets much more expensive then a stand alone GPS unit. At this price, buy one for each car and just leave it in the glove.

Although, I'd would hope that Tom Tom would refurbish their units with up to date maps. Selling refurbs w/ out of date maps makes no sense.

I know Rick posted a Woot deal yesterday, but the current one is pretty good. A Linksys wireless-N Router for $25. Refurbished, yes, but as Rick would say, if something does not go wrong in the first 30 days on this it is likely to be good.

Is that how it always works. You think you got good deal then all of a sudden you look up and a better price comes along. Bought on on Tigerdirect.com a couple weeks ago for $59 than get on CNET now and see the same one for $11 less.

This deal is still available and I bought it when he posted it. But I wouldn't if I were doing it again. As I read after I purchased (and someone noted above), this has old maps (15 months old!) so it doesn't support their MapShare technology. So I bought the 130S (text-to-speech) model for $70, then ended up spending another $60 for the map upgrade. Amazon's price for a *new* 130S? $98.99, which includes 1 free map upgrade! So I paid an extra $30 to get the newest maps and MapShare (which I really wanted).

So, he who hesitates is lost, but he who jumps at a "bargain" without reading the fine print is often stuck paying extra! :-(

Somehow I missed this deal when it first posted, but I was happy to see that amazon is still selling these at this price on the 31st. This is one deal I don't think I can pass up. Even if it doesn't have the latest maps, they haven't built any new roads around me for years anyway.
