Get a snazzy silver Sansa Clip (4GB) for just $34.99 shipped.

What's better than a 1GB Sansa Clip MP3 player for $14.99? How about a 4GB Sansa Clip MP3 player for $34.99? Shipped! That's the deal o' the day from Buy.com.

It's a refurb, as you might expect, and the warranty probably expires after 90 days (though Buy.com's product page doesn't say for sure), but as I've noted before, there's not much that can go wrong with an MP3 player. I have absolutely no qualms about the abbreviated warranty.

In fact, I'm entirely qualm-free about this player. (Qualm-less? Sans qualms?) The Sansa Clip beats the pants off the refurbished iPod Shuffle (currently $39 for a 1GB model), offering an OLED color screen, an FM tuner, a voice recorder, and support for Audible.com audiobooks. Oh, and four times the storage.

The Clip weighs less than an ounce and measures just 2.2 inches tall by 1.3 inches wide by 0.6 inch thick. True to its name, it clips, making it an ideal companion for the gym, the track, or wherever. For more specs and impressions, check out CNET's mostly favorable review.

It's too late to pick up one of these for Mother's Day, but it might be an ideal gift for the dad and/or grad in your life. Or, you know, for yourself. You've been good, right? Splurge a little! Do it for the economy.

A great deal--this originally sold for $80 new!

A few notes:

(1) The player with its uni-cover silver face is uber-cool. However, the face's construction adds a tint to the covering over the display, making the display a few degrees dimmer than the display on Clips of other covers. This is fine for inside, but if you plan to use the player extensively outside and especially in the sun, you should consider getting a different colored Clip. (This also is an issue with all Clips, due to their OLED screen, but is more pronounced with the silver Clip.)

(2) If you would like a Clip with even more capacity. Wal-Mart b&m stores (not online) still are selling the 8gb black Clip for only $14 more, $49.

Just ordered one to give to my mother as her first mp3 player. It's small, very simple to operate & anyone can add music to it without having to installing software (she lives in Trinidad).

cdxskier6, the Clip will work, easily, with Macs, simply as an external drive. As I understand it, one simply has to follow a simple dismount process when detaching the Clip from a Mac; instructions from Mac users are at the Clip forum at the SanDisk website (just search for "Mac"). http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/board?board.id=clip

A couple of weeks ago, a friend and i went to look at mp3 players in Wally World, and found that they where selling an brand new 8G clip (Black) for $49.95. Both of us walked out with one each. This deal was not announced anywhere, not even on a sign in front of a product. If you look for a deal you might find it.

Good find! A few people have mentioned this before. But I've refrained from posting it because: A) It involves going to an actual store; B) People generally hate Walmart.

Rick: While Wal-Mart isn't my favorite store in the world, it sometimes has great deals--the 8gb Clip is one of them. It's just too bad the deal isn't at the store's website as well (someone has postulated that the deal is to bring people into the b&m stores, presumably to buy even more).
