A year ago, the same monitor sold for $200.

Yes, you read right: PC Connection has a 21.6-inch Soyo DYLM2284 LCD monitor for $109.95 with free shipping. Amazingly, it's a new unit, not a refurbished model. So what's the catch?

Rebates. Two of 'em. Your out-the-door price is $169.95, minus a pair of $30 mail-in rebates. One of them expires today, so if you're interested in the deal, chop-chop. (Make that click-click.)

The Soyo features VGA and DVI inputs (alas, no HDMI), built-in speakers, a 5ms response time (great for games and movies), and a native resolution of 1,680x1,050 pixels. It does not appear to be HDCP-compliant, however, so you won't be able to watch Blu-ray movies from your PC.

I think that's a pretty minor shortcoming for most users. Interestingly, I've featured this monitor a couple times before--first at $199, and then at $169. At $109.95, it is without question one of the best deals of 2009 (so far).

PC Connection is an industry veteran, so swallow your dislike of rebates, and grab one of these monitors before they're sold out!

I just might have to get this for myself. I'm still using an old crt monitor!

p.s. that hdtv you had last week came in and its beautiful! my only complaint is that the up3 shipping dealsclick used didnt require that someone sign for the package, so the nice new tv was left sitting on the porch until someone came home. our neighborhood isnt exactly the best, im glad no one took it! other than that the tv was in prestine condition. the picture isnt as nice as say, my 42 inch 1080p philips i got from woot for 650, but its a perfect tv for the bedroom. Thanks again rick for finding these deals!

A flat screen monitor without HDMI should sell for about 110 bucks. This isn't a deal, so much as it's fairly priced. I mean, it's 2009, HDMI's been out for how many years? It should come on ALL new monitors.

"Should" and "Do" are two different things. When put up against comparable hardware, this monitor is definitely a bargain. HDMI tends to be on 1920x1080 (1080p) monitors as opposed to these more computer standard 1680x1050 which this monitor falls into. I dont think your comments are exactly fair to the author, though you do make a valid argument about how HDMI should be standard by now.

I have always been wondering, why do lcd tvs cost more than monitors? What makes them different, they both display picture!!!

1 major reason WiredChicken. LCD TVs have digital tuners built in. Meaning if you attach let say an antenna, you can watch over-the-air television. That itself is major reason why they cost more. These LCD's come out of the box as a TV first, but still support PCs with VGA and or DVI connections. If you buy a monitor your only supporting the computers display. A user left a comment before this one stating it should have HDMI, main reason being so many devices Any HD source (PS3, 360, Blu-Ray) could run on your monitor. I can agree with that, but for 100 dollars, its a steal (DVI runs the smoothest on PC displays anyway, given to fooldog said about resolution). I hope that helped.

HD camcorders, let's find more of these. It's the next big price drop, after the HD TV"s. What do we have out there for HD camcorders for a rockin' price?
