A 32-inch HDTV with DVD player for $325? That's hard to pass up!

Looking for a flat-panel TV for the den or bedroom? Deal-of-the-day site DealsClick.com has a refurbished Westinghouse SK-32H590D LCD HDTV with built-in DVD player for $324.99. Shipping will run you $35.

It's rare enough to find a 32-inch LCD at this price, but one with a DVD player? Woot! (Huh. I think that's my first-ever use of "woot." Not sure it's for me. Let's see... Shwing? Yowza? Shazam! Eh, I'll have to work on my excited utterances.)

So the Westinghouse offers 720p/1080i resolution, a pair of HDMI inputs, an ATSC tuner with ClearQAM, and slot-loading DVD. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing any indication in the SK-32H590D's specs that the player upconverts, so movies might not look as good as they could.

Because this is a refurb, the warranty ends after 90 days. More importantly, the reviews I've seen on this model (most notably at Amazon) are fairly mixed.

However, the complaints tend to center around poor customer service from Westinghouse, not the TV itself. So if your model works as it should, you'll probably be a happy camper. If not, you could be in for some frustration.

If you're willing to roll the dice, do it now: The deal ends at midnight tonight (ET).

Holy crap. I am so interested in this tv now. I am going to talk to my boss (fiance) to see if she wants it. I have been waiting on a good deal for a tv. All the 32 inchers are so expensive.

Totally side issue, but you point out that you had to read the customer reviews to figure out why it had a middling rating. I really think the retailers use for rating items is inadequate. Most sites use a single widget with 1 to 5 stars plus a comment box. As you mention, quite a few ratings often deal with the customer service as opposed to the product itself. And I see fair numbers of reviews from people that don't actually own the product. And how do you deal with intagibles, like the anti-DRM flood that happened with EA's Spore game? The game was good, the copy protection was lame. How about value? If something is decent enough but based on price it was a really good buy, that's something different, too. And reviews that are posted that discuss value almost never have the paid-for price listed for comparison.

This is an awesome deal. Sure; it would be nice to have a SONY label on the bottom of the TV, but a nice W does the job just as good. I bet these sell like hot cakes these days because all the credit cards are tapped out and no one has the cash to splurge on $1,500.00 SONY that 2 inch glass casing going around the screen. O Look this one plays DVDs too

I had this TV in its previous version. I loved it, great picture. The dvd player utilizes what Westinghouse calls Pixel Direct technology. It is no great upconversion but it is solid progressive scan type of play and it is certainly watchable. That being said, I preferred the upconversion in my PS3 over the internal dvd player. After about a year and nine months the light panel behind the LCD began to separate creating a large black line down the side of the screen. I had a service plan through Best Buy and upgraded my TV as a result. Quality is superb, longevity is an issue with this brand.

I would not consider to buy this tv for 1 primary reason.. It does not have a USB port.. I myselt watch a lot of movies on flash memory.. Second reason why I wouldn't buy it is because I stay away from refurbished products especially technology.. You do get what you pay for..

I love how cnet puts this in their top stories the day after the deal when you can't even buy this tv anymore.

I agree: It's frustrating. Unfortunately, I have no control over when products sell out, and the Top Stories feed is often a few hours behind. Thankfully, sharp readers like Georgia in MS (below) often pop in with other places you can buy the same product. And whenever possible, I update the post as well (as with yesterday's Jawbone 2).

32" is tiny, maybe I could use it as a computer monitor. Does it support 1920x1080 resolution?
