Get 22 inches of LCD goodness for just $142 out the door.

(Credit: Buy.com)

I think we're at the point where it's no longer sensible to pay more than $150 for a 22-inch LCD. I've posted numerous monitors at that price, and here's one that's even less: TigerDirect has a refurbished Acer X223Wbd 22-inch widescreen LCD for $139.97.

Shipping isn't free, but it's a very reasonable $1.99. That brings your out-the-door total to $141.96 -- a really amazing price for a monitor of this size.

And check out the specs: 1,680 x 1,050 native resolution, 5ms response time, 2500:1 contrast ratio, and VGA/DVI inputs. It's even HDCP-compatible, meaning you can watch Blu-ray and other protected content if your PC is pulling media-center duty.

Of course, because it's a refurb, your warranty expires after just 90 days. I don't consider that a showstopper, as the problem with most LCDs is a dead pixel or two--and that's something you usually see immediately.

Thus, if you're on the prowl for a bigger or secondary monitor, here's your chance to score a big 'un on the cheap. Really, really cheap.

I don't think so but I bought a Viewsonic 22 inch LCD TV refurb for $219 a couple of months ago that was featured on here.

It didn't get good recommendations but I think it's great for the money. Got it hooked up to my classic xBox via component and stream shows to it using XBMC. Works great, although the sound needs to be really cranked to be audible.

I have this monitor, I got it this past 'black friday' for about the same price. I can definitely recomend it. But, I can already see what I need is a 24" or 26" monitor. Bigger is better. When Obama gives me my 'stimulus" I will get one.

I don't like refurbished anything, but for $40 more you could buy a NEW acer with full 1080P support:

I wouldn't order anything refurbished from tiger direct. I had bad problems with them when I ordered the refurb xbox 360 that was posted a few months ago, it arrived dead on arrival and they wouldn't offer me a return just an exchange or an return for store credit. As for this monitor I have the same model and it's works good. It did come with one dead pixle, but i don't consider it a big enough hassle.

WARNING DO NOT BUY THIS IN ORDER TO PLUG INTO A PS3 FOR GAMING AS IT CUTS OFF A LARGE PORTION OF YOUR SCREEN!

That is all. Personal experience. Bought that same monitor, took it back when I realized that. This is the end of this public service anouncement. Otherwise it should be a great monitor.

I bought this guy the day it was posted, and just got it today. Props to TigerDirect for the fast shipping- 2 business days from the day I purchased, and the day it was delivered.

Overall I'm impressed with the monitor with the exception of the stand. Either it is loose or was improperly made; the screen sits at a "hunched over" angle. It is nothing major but definitely noticeable.

Other than that I was pleasantly suprised by this monitor, and its price. 8/10 until I figure out how to get the display angle fixed.

Update: It turns out the monitor has a vertical swivel feature. Out of the box mine was stuck to the point it felt as if there was none. After a bit of pulling it came loose.

10/10
