Get a free one-day pass to Sam's Club

Score a day's worth of deals at Sam's Club with a one-day membership pass.

Want to stock up on batteries, toilet paper, rice, and other bulk essentials? Head to your local warehouse club.

Of course, normally, you have to pay an annual membership fee to reap the savings, but Allstate has a coupon (PDF) that'll get you into Sam's Club for a day--and waive the usual 10 percent upcharge that nonmembers pay.

I realize this isn't a tech deal, per se, but Sam's Club does carry a variety of computers, electronics, and the like. Plus, the coupon lives on the Web, so it kinda sorta fits, right?

Anyway, there's nothing to indicate you need to be an Allstate customer to use the pass (which is good until March 31), but you do need to visit an actual Sam's Club store: The coupon isn't valid for Samsclub.com.

What say you, fellow cheapskates? Are you already out the door and heading for your nearest Sam's Club? Or do you find warehouse clubs much ado about nothing?

Personally, I'm a Costco guy. While I do love their produce and bulk batteries, I find their computer/electronics prices to be a little on the high side. Of course, Costco's return policy is pretty awesome.

I usually join that place once every couple years, rarely use it, and then stock up like mad right before my membership expires. This coupon will save me the cost of joining again for at least another year. Thanks a bunch, Rick!

I'm a Sam's Club guy. Costco often has prices 2-5% higher on the necessities. The more money I save there, the more money to buy tech deals! (and btw, I bought a pc on sale for my mother in law there last year for $149.99. The basics was all she needed.)

Thanks! I love Costco but sometimes Sam's Club has stuff that Costco doesn't carry.

I am a Costco man myself, I go there about once every three or four months and stock up like there's no tomorrow. The funny thing is I don't have a Costco card. Here is a little secret my roommate taught me: if you have a member buy you a Costco gift card (any amount - but be realistic, you can't use a $10 giftcard for a $350 bill lol) you can get into the store. The giftcard acts as a membership card -- as long as you use the full balance on the card. Being out in the SF Bay area I can't think of a Sams Club near me.

How well does that work for returns? Costco is renowned for their legendary return policy, but are they more inclined to poo poo non-members away for returning out of warranty items?

"Only original certificates will be accepted." Probably will still work though... I don't know why the slickdealers are saying that it's not valid in CA, I didn't see any such exclusion in the coupon, maybe it says that when you sign up through the ingoodhands.com page.

Has anyone on this thread actually successfully used this coupon? Sams is kinda out of the way for me, so I don't want to drive all the way there only to have the coupon rejected at the door.

What constitues an "original certificate"? Would printing it on glossy paper make its chances any better?

@Plano1: Did you see the comment just below this one? At least one person has reported success.

Went to my local Sam's Club yesterday and the coupon worked. The checkout cashier had to call a manager over to verify it, and he stared at it for a minute before approving it. The deal is good until March 31st, so a re-entry is as far away as your printer. Thanks for the tip!

awesome deal...NOT

walmart carries 8gb sandisk flash drives for $19.99 standard price, everday. sams club imho is a pointless waste of time/money well...unless you are feeding a family of 10.

Electronics prices and deals at Costco vary widely. TV's tend to be pretty good; however, I agree that flash products and computers tend to be overpriced. Apart from the awesome return/extended warranty policy (add an extra year) there's another advantage to computers sold at Costco: my experience is that many of their laptop models come with two year manufacturers warranties. That's got a serious (perhaps $100) value to it, so you have to consider the purchase and price with that in mind. Add the year extension from Costco itself, and you're talking about 3 years of warranty coverage on some machines. Even if it doesn't explain the persistence of some outdated models at Costco, it does explain the price premium for the recent ones.
