It wasn't that long ago that $250 was a good price on a 22-inch LCD. Now you get 26 inches!

Holy giant monitors, Batman! Buy.com has a Westinghouse L2610NW-SP 26-inch LCD monitor for $249.99 shipped.

The specifications here are pretty solid: 1,920x1,200-pixel maximum resolution (that's 1080p to you TV fans out there), VGA and HDMI inputs (plus an HDMI-to-DVI cable), HDCP support (in case you want to pair it with, say, a Blu-ray player), and a one-year warranty.

Reviews of the L2610NW-SP are few and far between, but the Buy.com crowd was quite enthused by it (4.5 stars out of 5 on average), and Newegg buyers had mostly good things to say as well.

Given that I haven't seen a decent deal on even a 24-inch LCD in quite some time (the best ever was $199.99), a 26-incher for $250 seems like a major steal. Grab one before they're gone!

yugster.com has the exact same item for 234.97. shipping runs 10 bucks though, so really you're only saving $5 off the buy.com price.

That's why I didn't post the Yugster deal...which expires today, btw. :)

I did a quick search and found a $10 off coupon with no strings attached. It cost me $239.99 out the door. You might be able to find a better coupon since I didn't want to search too much at work.

I saw this on slickdeals yesterday. Read about some of the drawbacks of this monitor:

http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=1181279

Apparently it was on sale for $150 before and no one bit:

I decided to pass on this deal, but thanks for posting it!

That monitor is large enough to replace my tv. It is even cheaper than buying a 26" television.

Just be aware that this monitor has a 16:10 ratio vs the 16:9 that your TV has.

if this is a TN type LCD (which I suspect it is) then you can forget about it! Viewing angles will be terrible esp vertical.

it's a PC monitor... i don't care about viewing angles since i sit in FRONT of my monitor while using the PC. if it's going to be used a TV for other people who would be looking at it from other angles, that might become and issue.

I like cheap but not cheap junk. After I saw your recommendation I went to BestBuy and picked it up for $450 (of course, to test it before buying online for $250). All the bad things you hear in forums are true:

1) I could not get it to display native resolution 1920x1200 on HDMI/DVI. I haven't tried analog input since it's no use for me. I want to watch Blu-ray movies on my computer and you cannot get full HD over analog path.

2) The default brightness is too much. And there is annoying buzzing sound when you lower backlight brightness. The noise disappears when you set monitor speakers to mute, but sometimes it pops back even when they are set to mute.
3) OSD buttons are hard to use.
4) Poor build quality. On mine there is a crack between the bezel and the panel and the backlight shines through it.
5) Also there is bright decorative LED at the bottom of the bezel and you cannot turn it off.
Each of this reasons alone is a kill deal for me. All of the issues combined earn this monitor is "a piece of junk" grade.

VGA? last time I checked the max res was 2048 x1536, last time i checked that was a megapixel more than what dvi supports.

And $250 for a 26" when it's on an offer? pay an extra hundred and you'll get one of the acer(I think) 27" which are above hd (2048 x ?) so you'd get the extra resolution and screen size, probably better viewing angles and contrast to.

Thanks for checking it out and reporting back with your findings!

I don't know. My 15.4" Dell Latitude D830 has a 1920x1200 LCD. This thing must have some monster-size pixels. Consider that Apple's 30-incher is 2560x1600. I know it's a different ballpark price wise, but this is not going to have the kind of dot pitch that will make for a crisp clear picture unless you sit back a few feet.

Your post is kinda silly. Are you actually trying to compare a $1800 30" Apple Cinema display to this monitor. People, it's $250!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who Cares. This is not for the video aficionados. It's a great post consider the current economic times.

Beware of Buy.com. I ordered this. I was charged for it and they provided a tracking number, but didn't actually ship it until a week later! Attempts to talk to customer support have been fruitless. Also DON'T TRUST BUY.COM REVIEWS! They only publish the positive ones. I tried to post a negative review on their site and it never showed up. Someone else tried to post a negative review 3 times and nothing. Only after he gave it good numbers did his review show up. This is dirty deceptive business.
