Get full seasons of Battlestar Galactica and other shows for just $5 each.

In an effort to push its new-ish Video On Demand service, Amazon is offering cheap deals on full seasons of popular TV shows. For example, you can get the first three seasons of Battlestar Galactica for just 5 bucks each. Also in the bargain bin: House (four seasons' worth), Heroes (seasons 1 and 2), The Office, and, if you're really hard up for entertainment, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Saved By the Bell.

In case you're not familiar with it, Amazon Video on Demand lets you stream shows and movies right in your browser (Mac or PC), no download required. However, you do have the option of downloading videos to your PC, notebook, TiVo, or compatible portable player for later (offline) viewing.

Obviously, you can choose whatever viewing experience suits you best, but I especially recommend this deal for entertainment-starved, notebook-toting travelers. Five bucks for 22 episodes of House? How can you beat that?

Update: Sigh, well THAT was a short-lived sale! Looks like only Heroes is left at the $5 price. Come on, Amazon, give us more than 10 minutes, would ya?

From the Amazon page: "If you think you might want 'em, you'd better jump, 'cause this price won't last long." They can say that again.

If the TV industry wants to stop me downloading these series from bittorrent then this is the correct price point. They already syndicate all over the world, so sell it to me and a million of my friends for next to nothing online.

I couldn't agree more. And what's with $9.99 for It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown? Not like that's a feature-length movie...

So in other words if you think it's too much then steal it? So if I think the DVD in wal-mart is too much just walk out of the store with it without paying?

If you wish to make a point do not buy the item. If you steal it then they kow it is somethign desirable and thus they can justify the high prices. If no one buys and no on steals then they can say "Hmmm nobody wants this maybe we should lower the price". Does a painting from a famous artist become LESS valuable after it gets stoeln? No it gets MORE valuable. Does the fact that ral jewelry made with real gold and real gems get stolen more than costume jewelry make it cost less? No. Do cars that get stolen more drop in price? No. So if you steal in an attempt to convince content providers to lower prices it won't work because it's never worked before. If you steal just because you don't want to pay what they charge then you're no better than a common criminal.

Not sure if this is the second time they've done this, but these shows were listed at $5/season since at least last Tuesday.

The price is right. The utility isn't. DRM keeps me from putting these shows where I need them to enjoy them. At 5 bucks a season I'd even consider these disposable and really not care if I kept them. It all comes down to being able to enjoy them.
