Price Watch: Soyo 22-inch LCD monitor down to $169.99 shipped

This is the lowest price yet on a 22-inch LCD.

A few weeks back I wrote about the Soyo 22-inch widescreen LCD, a pretty sweet deal at $179.99 shipped. It was a new unit, not a refurb, and you didn't have to deal with any heinous rebates.

Now, Buy.com has the same monitor for $169.99 shipped, and it's new and rebate-free as well. Hey, 10 bucks is 10 bucks.

In case you missed it, the Soyo DYLM2284 has VGA and DVI inputs (though only a VGA cable in the box), built-in speakers, a 5ms response time (plenty low for games and movies), and a native resolution of 1680x1050. It's not HDCP-compliant, however, so you can't use it to watch Blu-ray movies if your PC has a drive.

A couple dozen Buy.com customers collectively rated this monitor 4.5 stars out of 5, so you can rest assured it's a winner. Definitely worth a look if you're looking to expand your screen estate on the cheap.

Do not buy from Buy.com!!! I bought a monitor from them two months ago, was supposed to be a new monitor, it was a open box refurb that had frozen pixels. I could not get a refund, since I had "opened the box", how do you find out it is broken without opening the box!?!? My only option was to swap for another refurb (Open box only gets a refurb replacement) After sending it back, and two months, I got an email that it was no longer available. Customer service is horrible. I was so happy to hear that it was out of stock...now just waiting for my credit to be posted, should be within 45 days!!!

If you did indeed purchase a new monitor and got a refurb instead, I would think you'd have ground for legal action. Sorry to hear you're getting the runaround. FWIW, I've never had a problem with Buy.com.
