Apple holding 'special event' on Sept. 5

"The beat goes on" on September 5 in San Francisco, where Apple will hold a "special event" presumably to introduce new iPods.

As usual, Apple avoided directly stating what's on tap, but the use of the Cover Flow album artwork and Apple's latest iPod ads rather heavily suggests that we're in store for an iPod/iTunes-related event. Ars Technica reported last week that Apple was planning an event for the 5th, and several reports have surfaced in recent weeks implying that Apple's about to refresh its iPod lineup.

CNET will be there in force, so stay tuned for further news. The event starts at 10 a.m. on the 5th at San Francisco's Moscone Center, home to Macworld and the Worldwide Developers' Conference.

It appears that it's time for new iPods, according to Apple's latest 'special event' invitation.

where have I seen cover art, on a wide screen MP3 player?

Was it a Zune? I wonder if it will not scratch very easy like the Zune?

Looks like an iPhone without a phone
by Shef Seattle August 28, 2007 5:22 PM PDT
The picture looks like a wheel-less iPod which is basically iPhone - phone feature. Would be great for video/picture/music which Apple does very well.

You mean the "Beasties Boys" cover? There's nothing in there that
even looks remotely like a Beatles cover.
No Beatles
by Torrential August 28, 2007 6:09 PM PDT
yeah, no beatles albums there - sorry.

I'm just hoping widescreen...
Not Beatles Covers, actually.

@eddiemalloy: uhhhh...no, they're not.

("Not Beatles albums," that is.)

There are parts of six covers visible -- three to the left of the
iPod guy, and three to the right.
I can't name 'em all, but, from L to R, the covers are:
LEFT SIDE
1) Keane: Under the Iron Sea http://tinyurl.com/2dyjvc
2) [unknown]
3) Beastie Boys: The Mix-Up http://tinyurl.com/yrueu8
RIGHT SIDE
4) MIKA Life In Cartoon Motion http://tinyurl.com/2m6jch
5) Jack Johnson In Between Dreams http://tinyurl.com/2w4m4e
6) [unknown]

Anyone able to ID the other two?

Google it. many interesting facts. "I am the walrus" was recorded 9/5/67. 40 years ago... I'm sure there are more conspiracy theories to be unraveled or speculated at...
It Will be new iPods

Check the apple website. The "Buy a Mac, get a free iPod" sign in
the store now says "offer ends Sept 16." Does that mean anything
to anybody? I bet they will also give us an exact date for when
Leopard comes out in October too.
