Looking to sell your iPad 2 before picking up an iPad 3? A number of sites can offer you a decent deal.
NextWorth is providing healthy trade-in values relative to those of similar services. The site is currently willing to pay the following prices for an Apple iPad 2 in good condition, meaning it's fully functional but not brand new out of the box.
- iPad 2 16 GB Wi-Fi - $260
- iPad 2 32 GB Wi-Fi - $294
- iPad 2 64 GB Wi-Fi - $328
- iPad 2 16 GB Wi-Fi + AT&T 3G - $308
- iPad 2 32 GB Wi-Fi + AT&T 3G - $335
- iPad 2 64 GB Wi-Fi + AT&T 3G - $396
NextWorth said that it's also teaming up with retail chain Target to offer an in-store trade-in option. Consumers who want to sell an iPad or other device can receive a store credit or Target gift card for the value of the item.
But iPad owners aiming to sell their current tablets may want to act fast. Looking at values on eBay, NextWorth noted that prices for certain used models of the original iPad dropped following the announcement of the iPad 2 last year. The site expects the same downturn for the iPad 2 once the iPad 3 is official.
eBay itself has seen a surge in the number of iPad trade-in offers, accounting for 97.6 percent of the more than 125,000 tablet offers made this month. The auction site accepts trade-ins through its Instant Sale program, which offers owners cash for their older devices.
Owners looking to sell their Apple tablets to eBay can currently earn $275 for a 16 GB Wi-Fi only model and $325 for a 64 GB Wi-Fi+3G unit.
Gazelle is another popular service that offers cash for used iPads and other items.
The site is paying $222 for a 16 GB Wi-Fi-only iPad 2 and $317 for a 64 GB model with Wi-Fi and 3G. All models should be in good, though not necessarily perfect, condition.
Apple is expected to announce its next iPad at an event slated for March 7.
