Wozniak on Steve Jobs' health, Apple culture
Offering a unique perspective on Steve Jobs' health, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is speaking out in the media on his old friend's leave of absence and its likely effect on the company.
In an interview with NBC11 in San Jose, Calif., Wozniak said investors and the media should be respectful of his privacy.
"What he says, we ought to accept," Wozniak said in response to a question about Jobs' health.
Wozniak also said Jobs' six-month absence shouldn't have a negative effect on Apple's product line:
"The products coming out of Apple, out of tech companies, have a long tech pipeline...they work their way through for a year, year and a half...Those products are in the pipeline, they're not going to be disturbed."
He also offered some insight into how his friend's absence could ultimately have a positive impact on the company as well as himself.
"In the shower this morning I was thinking, well you know he sort of said he's going to take a leave of absence. To me, you know, if that's what he says then I'll take it at face value. He wants a rest. The rest and peacefulness. What do you do when you rest? Sometimes your mind floats. A person like him is probably going to work out better concepts and products and ways the future could be and the way we live our lives better than any individual could. Probably a great, great thing for Apple."
After months of speculation about his health, Jobs announced earlier last week that he will step down from his post while recuperating from a hormone imbalance. His absence is expected to stretch until the end of June.

As for Black_Fly, the sort of person who finds Woz perspicacious is not likely to be interested in what I have to say.
likely affect his absence will have on the company.
is "effect" the correct "word" or "terminology"? And do you "refer a thesauraus" or
"refer to a thesaurus"?

Jobs stated He'd keep in touch with Tim Cook for big decisions (read new products). Things will be fine. Jobs' health will be monitored closely and he'll get the right mix of drugs and treatments to fatten him up.
People should fear him getting used to not working more than anything. He may decide that his quality of life would benefit from not working at all. It's his life and he's still young and need to take care of himself.
Do you seriously believe that you have the same insight into how product development works in Apple?
Woz is a historical figure in Tech. Show some respect.
Woz hasn't been with Apple as a full time employee for going on 2 decades. Since then Apple has sold off their manufacturing and has become secretive under Jobs where it wasn't when Woz was around.
I have respect for Woz in creating the Apple I and II lines and all the work he has done (ASCII etc), but to believe that he has the inside track on Jobs would be incorrect. Show some respect to Jobs and his health issues.
It is not a difficult concept.
When I heard the news about Investors are thinking of suing, I thought what on earth are these investors thinking ...., if that was the case they should have taken a life policy on Steve rather than investing with Apple.
As long as his replacement doesn't change the culture too radically nothing bad will happen.
That investors freak out, only shows what we already knew. Wall Street is packed with drooling monkeys.
Nobody thinks that Jobs designs anything. He provides vision. He approves what goes and what doesn't.
If the wrong person is on the chair, that person can possibly make the wrong deals, etc... no matter how talented your employees are.
Look at what happened to Yahoo. Wrong executive decisions, wrong insight, wrong vision, can make or break for any tech company (or any company for that matter).
The street is panicking only because they don't know how Tim Cook's mind works... Apple might eventually need Woz's approval of Tim to win over the hearts and minds of investors (the owners of Apple).

I'm not sure why websterphreaky thinks that anybody cares about what he thinks of Woz, much less his ranting about him.
Heck, he does more philanthropy than Jobs. I think that's why Woz has a street named after him in San Jose...
Sorry Leo, I don't think he swings that way.
hahaha!
You might want to consider looking over your own previous posts before throwing accusations like that around.
