Palin ordered to save e-mails

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin must save any e-mails she sent from private accounts regarding state business, an Anchorage judge ordered Friday.

The e-mails must be preserved until a lawsuit requesting that the e-mails be made public is resolved, Anchorage Superior Court Judge Craig Stowers said. The judge also said e-mails from private accounts belonging to Palin's staff must be preserved.

Palin and her staff used about a dozen private e-mail accounts for state business, and a Yahoo account belonging to Palin was hacked earlier this year.

State officials should work with Yahoo and other e-mail service providers to preserve the e-mails, including those from accounts that have already been deleted, the judge ordered.

Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee, is no longer using private e-mail accounts for state business, Assistant Attorney General Mike Mitchell said.

This is no doubt a political stunt organized by the leftist liberals in state government of Alaska. What a joke.

If Palin has nothing to hide the "leftist liberals" will find nothing.
What are you afraid of, the Palin image bubble will finally collapse?
by smiller987 October 13, 2008 3:02 PM PDT
Tiresome whining. Since when is pursuing a criminal a "leftist liberal" behavior? Face facts - she is a criminal and, like all criminals, thought she could outsmart law enforcement and hide what she's done.

Apparently you like more secretive government. I guess that's because it's worked so well over the last 7 years or so. Smile, you've made hitler proud.

Oh yeah - the leftist liberal panel that rumbled this slimy woman, which consisted of 12 people, 8 of whom are Republicans...

Surely Palin trying to avoid stepping in a large pool of dirt of her own making might be a more accurate description

She is using these accounts either because she is ignorant or disreputable. Neither are qualities that I would want in leader.

Frightening thought - what if she's both? I mean if she was just disreputable then the GOP could have successfully hidden these crimes ...

Actually, if you check the docket you find that the suit has been filed by the left-leaning republican state trooper and ex-brother-in-law whose career she ended. Still, would it have been more ethical if she weren't a candidate for vice-president? This is personal and political. The McCain campaign has tried to pay to have this go away quietly, but for some reason this guy won't let go. That said, legality aside, this is mostly an ethics issue and that's not a platform either major-party candidate's running on (you want ethics, that's that the Green/Rainbow platform, and their greatest aspiration is 5% of the vote).

Palin should be viewed as one of the greatest threats to national security for doing this. I'm an undecided voter but after hearing about this I couldn't help ponder what is the greater security risk? Electing an intelligent candidate Obama? or electing a bunch of technology fools that put our great country at risk by using a third party email system?

She should probably be charged with gross Incompetence and step down in Alaska.

Emails containing government-related work is said to be public record. Those emails need to be archived, as a result.

The mistake here, is that the Palin Administration tried an end-around by using non-governmental emails. That's why a judge is requiring these emails to be saved.

Give credit where it's due, this is page one of the Rove playbook made famous by fuhrer bushit.

Yeah, mcSHAME and failin will definitely be different than fuhrer bushit. They've show their "independence" already - by doing the same things!

LOL - repukes are so ar-tarded.

She is not fit for the Governorship of Alaska and no way capable of being the Vice President. What will it say about America if she is elected.

By the way, here is a website that shares all the Sarah Palin dirt to support Barack Obama!

Let's be real now. If you're going to call Palin ignorant for using a yahoo email account to do government business, then you'll have to include at least 90% of government employees. The same applies to many CEOs and business executives. The reason viruses spread so easily in the past was because people, including governors and CEOs, would always open emails from unknown addresses containing attachments.
Palin is anything but ignorant, btw. To go from a small town mayor to a vice presidential candidate in 3 years is quite a feat. I doubt any of you name callers could have performed half as well as she did in the debate considering she didn't have any international experience or interests 3 months ago.
Sure Biden won the debate and did a fantastic job, but if knowledge is top pre-requisite for president, then Biden should be at the top of the ticket, not Obama. Knowledge of facts is important, but I count experience and wisdom higher. Besides, if she for some reason became president, she would be surrounded by advisers.
All this jabber about Palin is virtually pointless cause when Nov 4 comes around most people will be focused on Obama and McCain.

What are you afraid the "leftist liberals" will find?
If there is nothing to hide than Palin will be cleared.
Are you afraid the Palin image bubble will be burst?
Is she so weak that anymore truth will derail her?

This woman - who has already been found to have acted unethically - and her staff intentionally used private email accounts for state business to avoid the full disclosure that comes with using official email accounts.

So by using personal accounts for state business, she intended to avoid ethical oversight - public oversight - of her administration in Alaska. She wanted to keep the actions/words of her and her staff from becoming public knowledge.

Sounds like she didn't want an email version of the Nixon Tapes.

What happened to the transparency and accountability of government?

What happened to the transparency and accountability of government? One word answer - repukes.

Any email messages on Alaska state business in Palin's personal Yahoo email are the property of state, not herself because she works for state of Alaska. She wasn't suppose to use her personal email for conducting state business.

She and her staff will not comply. Just as initially both Sarah and Todd Palin refused a grand jury subpoena! Stating instead that it wasn't worth the court's time because the would both plead the fifth amendment.

Deja vu. Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, 'W'

They think they are all above the law. I can't wait until they are out of office and then let justice take it's course.

As far as Sarah, She's just an airhead.
