Sarah Palin Wikipedia edits--fast and furious

Sarah Palin's life has been abuzz since she was officially selected as John McCain's running mate on Friday. Her Wikipedia page has, likewise, been awash with activity.

After well over a thousand edits were made to her page that day, the Wikipedia editors raised the page's protection level to restrict who can make changes, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Meanwhile, The Washington Post reported evidence via Cyveillance that in the days and hours before Friday's announcement, Palin's page was being edited more frequently than those of other potential vice presidential candidates. A clue, perhaps?

Her page was specifically garnering the attention of someone identified as "Young Trigg," who made numerous edits deemed favorable by a Wikipedia editor.

There has already been much speculation as to who "Young Trigg" may be, especially considering Palin's youngest child is named Trig.

Wikipedia does have specific rules regarding conflict of interest.

However, all it will take to solve the mystery is for someone to track down the identity of "Young Trigg."

On a related note, Palin is trending No. 3 and No. 4 on Twitter at the moment.

Who cares...the only reason egg head McCain picked her was because Obama didn't pick Clinton. All he's trying to do is get female votes. If I were her, I would have never accepted knowing that.

I don't like either candidate, so everyone can keep the comments about bias to themselves.

You all know I'm right.

Try not to show any more ignorance regarding candidates and their qualifications. You may want to study a bit before opening your mouth again.
by Kwasiowusu August 31, 2008 7:00 PM PDT
Since Governor Palin has a heck of a lot more executive experience than Obambi will ever have in his life, you post don't make no sense.
by kab1954 August 31, 2008 11:02 PM PDT
John McCain picked her because he knew she was best for our country and you should care. I'm sorry you're not right and if everyone believed as you did??? I will pray for you. God is in control and only He knows what's best for us even if we don't. The United States of America was founded on trusting in God, not people and we have fallen away, so it's time to wake up. Our Lord Jesus Christ is coming back to set up His kingdom and I thank God I won't be here on this earth to be judged. Do you have that same assurance?
by brianwolters September 1, 2008 1:35 PM PDT
That may be part of it but she is a real winner...she was the best choice and not more of the "same ole same ole" as a Romney or a Ridge would have been. I've studied her since learning of her 6 months ago and picked he would choose her.

She took on both Democratic and Republican corruption. She has also done well cutting unnecessary spending the essential problem with our government today.
I like her.

she is also under investigation for abuse of power.

From where I'm looking, she's just another self-serving politician that gets brought into the mix to serve the interests of other societal parasites. On top of that, I wonder how she will be able to take care of a special needs infant and be 2nd in command of the worlds most powerful country. Family values indeed.

I don't like her.
by Raven_Raving September 1, 2008 5:10 AM PDT
She thinks drilling everywhere in ANWR is a great idea. She thinks hunting wolves and bears by helicopter is sporting. She is against abortion even in cases of rape or incest. She is a fundamentalist X-tion who is under investigation for having her sister's ex-husband fired for no good reason.
Her judgement is suspect: She was in Texas when she says her water broke a month early in her pregnancy with Trig. She stayed and gave a speech, then flew 9 hours, then drove past 2 hospitals with neonatal intensive care units to get to a hospital way out in the boonys where she was mayor years back. A woman on her 5th pregnancy, who knew her child was Down's syndrome, took major chances with that baby's life. Definitely not VP material.
by bryanoldman September 1, 2008 7:41 PM PDT
Google "troopergate" you will see how she fights corruption. She is vindictive, crooked and unqualified to be a VP or Governor.
by Stryfe01 September 2, 2008 6:39 AM PDT
Sure she took on corruption. But she's also took earmarks, she decried it being called "bridge to nowhere", but when it was politically advantageous to her gov run, it was now "the bridge to nowhere". The money for that bridge that she claims should not be used to build that bridge, was never returned and she has gone forward with "the road to the bridge to nowhere". She's also under an ethics investigation for improperly firing someone. She is not clean in any sense and she was definitely not vetted properly. Yes I support Obama as an Independent, and I used to respect McCain. But McCain has done everything he needs to win this election on Republican terms than that of a so called "maverick".
by sigzero August 31, 2008 10:15 AM PDT
Or maybe she is actually a capable person?! She went from News Woman to Governor of Alaska. She has more experience than OBama. The "woman thing" is nice as well.

How does being governor of a state with a smaller population of a mid-sized town qualify her for anything? The PTA is still on her resume.

She is going to get shredded into tiny little pieces.

No one with a brain is going to vote for this extreme fundamentalist, hunting wolves with a helicopter, literally in bed with the oil companies, anti-woman, anti-science, anti-thinking psychopath.

Campaigning with a special needs infant(DS children have serious immune system problems) shows her and McSames serious lack of judgment.

I am still on the fence with Obama, but the republican offering is beyond scary.
by Kwasiowusu August 31, 2008 7:07 PM PDT
@ The_Decider : "How does being governor of a state with a smaller population of a mid-sized town qualify her for anything? "

Real question you should be asking is, how does being a "community organiser" (like Obambi has), for the most corrupt political machine in this country(the Democratic Party political machine in Chicago), qualify anyone to be the presiden of these United States?
Governor Palin on the other hand, is the governor of the biggest state by far in this country. Shga menages more of the country's natural resoucres , national parks, and oil resources than anyone else. Not to dealing regularly with the Russian goverment, which actualy shares a border with Alaska.
When did Obambi ever have any daelings with the Russian goverment?
by sanenazok August 31, 2008 10:00 PM PDT
@The_Decider - as far as VP states go, Biden is from Delaware, a state far less important than Alaska. In fact, Delaware's population is very close to Alaska's. Also, Biden's been a career senator, which in itself is not a bad thing (kind of like Dick Durbin) but it's not a qualification for being president. Being a successful governor, on the other hand, is much closer to being president than sitting on a committee to investigate committees.

Yep, McCain took a risk taking her on, but she'll be the underdog in the VP debates. If she does anything more than hold her own against Biden then she'll win the debate hands down. The angry and stupid backlash against her on the dailykos shows you how scared the liberal elites are of this woman.

I also like her.

by chlimouj September 1, 2008 9:06 AM PDT
In what world does she have more experience than Obama? Have you ever been to Alaska? Serving in Alaskan politics does not prepare a person for the big stage... it's like taking someone who does kids' puppet shows for a living and putting them on the bill for a Broadway play. On the other hand, Obama has worked in one of the largest cities in the country and has proven himself as someone capable of leading and appealing to a diverse group of people. Until Palin was picked as McCain's VP, she didn't even have a foreign policy position. I think the first and only time she's ever left the country was when she visited troops in Kuwait last year. Yeah, I'd feel confident sending her to meet with foreign leaders... right....
by geneven September 2, 2008 8:06 AM PDT
Yes, if you were for Hillary and you now want to join the people who vilified her for years, this is a great time to join the GOP.
by William Crow August 31, 2008 10:16 AM PDT
She took on both Democratic and Republican corruption in Alaska. Then she went after excessive government spending, the essential problem of most governments these days, especially the federal government.
I like her.

Perhaps you Dems would prefer what your ex Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards did, which was to go have a babay with some tart, evene while his wife was supposedly dying of cancer, no?
by humanssssss August 31, 2008 11:56 AM PDT
She's the one with a Down syndrome baby knowing very well her baby is going to turn out that way. Not only she is selfish, she brings her child to a world where people may not accept her child as well. The pro-life people are scary people who will leech off society until it dies. This lady is so pro-life that she would permit the overpopulation of the world. When land and resource are limited, people will have war. This has been proven over and over in the history of mankind. Either be smart and understand what we are up against or die being stupid. Global warm is true and real. We have more violent hurricanes than ever before.

I don't value an incompetent VP who has very little knowledge of science.

That's funny.
You'd prefer that she kills her baby, like most of you abortion loving Democrats do every day , no?
Like how Obambi went out there and voted for against a bill that would stop abortion survivors from getting killed?
The Dems keep screaming about being "pro-choice", yet when teh Governor of a state makes her choice against killing babes, and FOR the life of er baby, the Dems start screaming.
FACT: The Democratic Part is NOT pro-choice. The Democratic Party is PRO-abortion.
by sanenazok August 31, 2008 10:04 PM PDT
@humanssss Wow! Good luck with that world view! Nice slippery slope there: why end it with down syndrome, why not anything that causes "emotional distress". I think that disabled people add more to society than most anonymous posts do. What's sad is there are Democrats who actually think this way and it's hard to tell what Obama thinks since his position on everything is "I'm pro change" and "we should si se puede some more."
by kab1954 August 31, 2008 11:05 PM PDT
God is in control, not science. I will pray for you.
by CTO_Dude September 1, 2008 6:35 PM PDT
She is not "Pro-Life". She is anti-abortion. She supports the death penalty. So essentially, dont kill the baby. Wait til it grows up and then let me kill it. Anti-abortionists always bicker over "when life begins". I think we know they are "alive" when the get the death penalty.
by open-mind September 2, 2008 11:28 AM PDT
So humanssssss, you say Sarah Palin is making a mistake by not kiling her unborn child because it may not be well accepted by the world? How ironic. It appears you're not well accepted by the world ... so your mother made the exact same mistake.
by KingsImperial August 31, 2008 1:22 PM PDT
Why are people trying to spin this thing like Palin has more experience than all the rest of them? That's a lie. Please name anything specific that she has done other than the vague "has more executive experience" line. If that's the case any govorner in the country should be president and we should just pick one out of a hat.

Palin: Univeristy of Idaho Journalism grad, city council hockey mom turned governor. (It's really that thin)

Obama is a Harvard law grad who spent 6 years in the Illinois senate and two in the U.S. senate. He has authored and co-authored many bills that are now law both in the Illinois senate and U.S. senate. All one has to do is some research if one really cares. Most notable is The Obama/Feingold bill aka The 2007 Ethics Reform Law not to mention various health care reform bills.

I hope people can see through this Palin selection as the political stunt it is. I'm not saying she is a bad woman (aside from apparently being under investigation for corruption herself) and that she hasn't made any achievements, but I seriously doubt she can lead America or the rest of the free world.

Governor Sarah Palin, also happens to be the Governor of the biggest state in theese United States, and manages more of our natural resources and oil, national parks and than anyone else.

"Obama is a Harvard law grad who spent 6 years in the Illinois senate and two in the U.S. senate"

The only thing of note, that Obambi has done in his life is attend Harvard on affirmative action programs, after which his resume is the thinnest in American history of anyone that has stood for president.
Obambi being a "community organise" in the corrupt Chicago Democrati Party machine , followed by spendinga measely 153 days in the US Senate (with ano achievements) doesn't qualify anyone to be president.
by sanenazok August 31, 2008 10:10 PM PDT
@KingsImperial Oh no a politician did something for political reasons? Why do you think Obama picked Biden? Because they are lovers? If he could have his way, Obama would pick himself for VP, or maybe Oprah, or a groupie. Obama should finish whatever community organizing he started here in Chicago, in 2008 we had a gang-violence death every week since the start of the year. I guess his absence is really being felt! Just joking, Chicago's problems are caused by the gawdawful political machine that created Obama. The current chief of police is an inexperienced brat. The state has no money or budget and the treasurer is an inexperienced brat. Hmmm, see a pattern?
by kab1954 August 31, 2008 11:09 PM PDT

Interesting that people say Obama has sponsored and authored bills and yet the only one we know of is the infanticide bill. Her accomplishments include standing up to the oil companies, getting larger royalties for the residents of Alaska (my friend gets $1700 a year in royalties from oil). She has also refused to bridge to nowhere sponsored by the senior republican senator from Alaska. What corruption is she under investigation for? Do you have the goods? Besides making stuff up about her daughter, of course.... Also, does pro-choice only mean if the choice is death? You Obama people need to read up on ACORN (embezzlement and voter fraud - facts), and Obama's best buds Rezko (convicted felon - racketeering, conspiracy, bribery) and Bill Ayers (domestic terrorist).

As to her stance on "The Bridge To Nowhere", documentation shows she "was for it before she was against it". Just like many of McCain's positions now that he "was for it before he was against it." Maybe you McCain people should really look at your horse's records... I see a bright pair of flip-flops in your future.

As to standing up to the oil companies: She is in bed with them. Drill drill drill, kill kill kill.

Yes, but she qualifications that are more important to McCain's base:

1. Creationist

2. Anti-Choice, including victims of rape and incest

3. Opposes same sex marriage, opposes other rights for same sex couples

4. Supports oil drilling in ANWAR

5. Roman Catholic apostate who became a Pentecostalist. I guess she hasn't read far enough into the Bible to get to I Timothy 2:11-15 :)

I am not saying that is is a bad person, but she can't hold a candle to Obama, Biden, or even McCain.

Amen! Sarah Palin is hanging off of the edge of the nutty wing of the right extreme. This is not just an anti-abortion candidate. She is opposed to birth control, and like some of the Bush appointees equates birth control pills with abortion. Gov Palin's world is a world in which there is no birth control and world-wide population explosion and associated problems, a world in which a war on science is officially launched, a world in which polar bears are shot from the air for sport, and a world in which the poor and the disabled are blamed for their plight - unless they happen to be the son of a rich Republican like her.

I really like this pick. I wasn't so happy with McCain but this is a magnificent pick for running mate. When you do not have facts please, keep your mouth shut. The V.P. elect goes to a church that is not pentecostal. She quit a gravy train job because those around her were corrupt, she forced the oil companies to increase [on a sliding scale] the amount they pay in taxes [oil revenues] to the State of Alaska, and brokered the deal for the biggest natural gas pipeline in North America. I'd rather have her as president than Joe [Kennedy] Biden.

The choice of relationship between 2 people--marriage or no marriage, same gender or different--is no one else's business and any law passed to control such is an invasion of privacy and a violation of religious freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights; such an issue has no business being on any ballot because it's no business of the "American population" in any way, shape or form. When you seek to infringe on the freedoms of others, be careful... you may see your freedoms infringed upon too. "Cast not the first stone..."

When you put the Obama Resume up against the Palin Resume, Sarah Palin is more qualified to be President of the U.S.
Obama is but a 2-bit "community organiser", who was aspawned by the most corrupt political machine in the country, the notorious Chicago Democratoc Party political machine.
I am not voting for a guy (Obama), who's poltical career was launched by the most notorious domestic terrorist this country has ever known, Bill Ayers.

Your assessment is probably the most poorly informed I've ever read. Just a few facts.

Obama - poor and disadvantaged background
Palin- upper middle class or rich with major Alaska connections in her family

Obama - undergraduate degree in a serious major from Columbia University
Palin - journalism major from the Univ of Idaho

Obama - honors grad from Harvard Law School - editor of Harvard Law Review
Palin - no graduate education. failed sportscaster on small town TV.

Obama - gave up money to help poor in Chicago
Palin - having babies

Obama - State Senator in one of our most populous and diverse states
Palin - soccer mom and major of tiny town in Alaska

Obama - US Senator from Illinois - immediately on national stage in spite of opposition from his party
Palin - Gov of one of a tiny state that is not representative of the US population

Obama - Dem candidate in spite of racism and opposition by Dem's most powerful
Palin - VP candidate because she is anti-abortion and looks good on TV.

So, who is best qualified to lead the free world??

@ Perry_Clease , The majority of the American population now strongly support both offshore drlling, and drilling in the tiny 2000 acres of ANWR(out of the 20 million acres that is ANWR), that contains up to 15 billion barrels of oil that is vital to our national security interests.
It doesn't make sense to be sending a massive $700 Billion every year to terrorist nations like Iran and Venezualla, when we could be spending that money in this country and creating jobs with it.
Obambi, Pelosi and the rest of the arrogant, demented loony left, are out of touch with mainstream America.

15 billion barrels of oil will solve our oil problem ? Considering the U.S. alone uses 20 million barrels of oil each day ( according to the U.S. government http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_much_oil_does_the_US_use_a_day )
then taking 5 or 10 years to get oil out of alaska, taking into consideration the amount of additional oil the U.S. is expected to need in 5 or ten years... that 15 bil barrels of oil in the ANWR should last us what ? 10 days ? Yep... real good move there.
Then consider that every place the oil companies drill or transport oil becomes contaminated, ( Mississippi river, the oil sheen seen even in Google earth at every port oil is transferred in or out of, the Exxon Valdez ) the environmental damage does not outweigh the benefits of drilling. Not to mention that oil prices will continue to go up and up, regardless of how much more drilling ensues. And regardless of how much the oil companies have brainwashed you.
Oil prices do not go down in the long term. Especially as more and more demand squeezes fewer and fewer resources. The U.S. uses 24% of the worlds oil supplies, yet has only 3% of oil resources in Total.
And consider that the only thing we are doing is buying more and more oil from countries that really do not like us. But they will take more of our money for their oil.
Good choice of economics and national security there.
The answer is to get OFF of OIL.
NOW.
Drilling anywhere for another 10 days worth of oil, give or take any amount, is NOT the answer.

@ Perry_Clease :"Tiny little ANWAR is just the thin edge of the wedge. If there is so little oil there why bother?"

English comprehension. Learn to read dude.
The actual land area that wil be drilled is only 2000 acres, out of total of 20 milion acres for the whole of ANWR, yes.
That is tiny, and its not gonna affect the huge ANWR is any way.
Good thing tho is, that 2000 acres of ANWR has proven oil reserves of a massive 15 billion barrels of oil(over $1.5 Trillion dollars worth of oil at least), enough to produce over 1 million barrels of oil a day for the next 30 years at least.
That is money we could be keeping in this country instead of sending it to our enemies. But thanks to the Demiocratic Party, obambi and Pelolsi, we are being forced to get that oil from Obabmbi's Islamic terrorist pals in iran instead.

There's a mis-characterization of facts spew by Conservative who forgot to mention that Alaska is the largest state but with closest to the fewest population of any state. Conservatives distort actual fact to manipulate the mass in believing them. The educated populous isn't going to fall for this tactic anymore. More and more people are college educated in the United States unlike third world living like Alaska who can easily be swayed by his lady lack of integrity, judgment, and ethic.

I have very little doubt, if this person is in office, we are in for a lot more problems than what Bush and Cheney had done to America. Cheney is smart. Palin is a dumb nut who has limited science knowledge. A creationist believer who goes around preaching the greatness of Creationism and when confront with questions about the science of birth, she has very little knowledge beyond her so many babies she gave birth to. I trust the work of academic excellence who documented hundreds of millions of birth than from one person's personal encounter of life -- Palin.

To Palin who lack quantum mechanic education should read up on the idea of quantum entanglement. It is not whether God exist or not exist. It is God exist and does not exist. That's what so stupid about Palin and the Conservative, they don't have a good education to understand science has progressed to the point that we can answer both ways to the same question that forces one answer.

Of course, I wouldn't blame her and the mass she tries to persuade because most of them are ignorant who wouldn't spend a year to learn quantum mechanic. Stupidity is plentiful and it is dangerous when we have an advanced society with stupid people in power. It will ruin advanced society, just like how Bush has ruined for US.

Sometimes, the power of scientific observation is not enough - even for the most staunch "advocates" of science and logic. It requires no faith to believe that life starts at conception. If anything, it takes a complete lack of reasoning or willful ignorance (ignoring the obvious) to believe that life itself begins after a baby is born. It is one of the most counterintuitive "scientific" arguments every presented in the history of world civilization.

At least those who believed the earth was flat could be excused of their ignorance because of their limited knowledge of the world at that time. How can pro-abortion advocates continue to claim superiority in science, when they get the most simple question dead wrong?

For that there is no excuse! While quantum mechanics is quite impressive albeit difficult to observe for the average person, every pregnancy offers a chance for easy observation of life and ultimately truth concerning one scientific question. The issue is not solely scientific, but inevitably evokes the moral concerns involved.

When faced with the moral truth many despair at the thought that our culture is daily murdering its young, so we pretend it isn't so, and try to suspend scientific truth by rationalizing something that can not be rationalized or justified. Our rationalizations do not make us any less cupable as a people.

@humanssssss : "There's a mis-characterization of facts spew by Conservative who forgot to mention that Alaska is the largest state but with closest to the fewest population of any state"

Nope.
Its the Democratic Paty that is doing the mischaracterization here.
FACT: Alaska IS the biggest state by far in this country. No "buts" or "if'" about it.
Further, Alaska does NOT have the smallest population in this country.
Further, Alska currently has more of the vital oil reserves that this country needs than any othet state in the union, if yoiu add in the huge reserves at ANWR to the already considerable amounts of oil Alaska produces and tramsports through the alsakan pipeline.
Plus Alaska has the biggest nature rserves by far in this country. ANWR alone is bigger than plenty of states in mainland America.
Who is the Governor that is effectively managing all these huge resources? Governor Sarah Palin.
Sarah Plain has vastly more executive experience, of actually running a goverment, than Obambi has ever had in his life. it's not even close.

Kwasiowusu: Stop being a shill and spinning facts.

Alaska doesn't have the smallest population in the US, that is true. Wyoming, N. Dakota, and Vermont have smaller. Look at the population DENSITY though. Alaska has 0.45 people per square mile, whereas Vermont has 26 per square mile.

And as for the oil, stop listening to Republicans and oil companies. ANWR, according to the EIA, would do little to decrease dependence on foreign oil. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4542853/ Go read the study! At peak production in 2025, it'll produce roughly 800,000 barrels per day. US currently consumes 21 million per day. Not exactly a major dent now, is it?
