Your virtual ticket into Wikipedia

Knowledge is power, though in this industry, just trying to keep up with the knowledge and constant change is a feat in itself. Social, local, mobile, SEO, PPC, and e-commerce...can you keep up?

The online industry has a number of big shows that demand attention, but if you've been unable to manage the time or the expense, there's a show this week (October 9 to 11) that has virtually no excuses for not attending.

eComXpo is a virtual trade show for e-commerce marketers, held twice a year online--and it's free. Not only do you get an opportunity to "sit in" on presentations, but this show even has a virtual expo hall where you can visit booths, learn about the various exhibitors, and even chat online with company representatives.

eComXpo is geared toward e-commerce, though anyone who deals in the online world should be able to find something of value. This is especially ideal for anyone who is just getting started or who has been thinking of making the move to the Web.

I'll be moderating a panel on a topic that should be of great interest to everyone...Wikipedia and SEO. While Wikipedia no longer passes PageRank, it is nonetheless a valuable resource. However, it can also be a virtual minefield that requires care and attention.

When it comes to Wikipedia, there are very definite right ways and wrong ways to do things, and who better to learn from than the diverse panel for this talk, made up of Jonathan Hochman, Neil Patel, Don Steele, and myself. It's hard to imagine a panel discussion on any subject where so many interests and viewpoints could be so well represented.

I hope you'll register and take some time to attend some of the presentations this week at eComXpo. And don't forget to set aside an hour on Wednesday (10/10 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. PDT) for Wikipedia & SEO as it should prove to be a very educational and interesting discussion.
