Engadget has the pics or some really, really good fakes.

The horned one's not convinced that he wants his desktop machine to have a laptop keyboard, but he has to admit, it looks pretty sweet.

Laptop keyboard is fine...
by texasags July 27, 2007 10:31 AM PDT
...as long as it works well. I agree that it looks sweet, but I'll wait to try it.

I hope this is the new keyboard. Would definantly fit the mac look and fulfil my
minamalist needs.

It seems unlikely

that they would change all of the old keyboard mapping for expose, dashboard,
volume control, and brightness. The moving of the eject key does make sense to
prevent misfiring, but the delayed response on recent system updates already
mediates that problem.

I kind of wish they had used the MacBook Pro keyboard as a base instead of the MacBook, but whatever. The current Apple keyboard is utter garbage, and any redesign is welcome.

Wrong colour keys
by The Nerg July 27, 2007 3:12 PM PDT
Sure it looks nice but, despite comments on places like TUAW, the keys are the wrong colour - and possibly in the wrong place, they'd be aluminum.

What's that clock icon all about? Why does time machine need it's own key? If that's what it's for...

There's no apple logo on the command key - I can see why that would happen, but wires? OK needed to set up a Mac from scratch but how about a keyboard that can be wired for set up and then bluetooth there after once the devices have been paired?

I've had nothing but problems with my original...
by Dave Metzener July 27, 2007 6:40 PM PDT
I've had nothing but problems with my original Mac keyboard. If I don't press straight down on the keys, the stick going down. The space bar is messed up and was messed up when I pulled it out of the box. I had the same experience with my old G4 Mac from way back.

I love my MacBook's keyboard and if this is real and not a fake, I'll be at the Apple store the second it goes on sale to get myself one of them babies!

Some kind of iMac upgrade is imminent.
by BeatleMegaFan July 29, 2007 8:53 PM PDT
This may not be exact, but something like this will happen. Think about it.
The Mac Pros were upgraded awhile back, the Mac Minis were upgraded, the
MacBooks were upgraded to 2.16Ghz, and finally the MacBook Pros got
clocked up to 2.2 and 2.4Ghz with new graphics cards. The laptop upgrades
are recent, leaving the next upgrade to the iMacs, which haven't changed
since the release of the Intel Core 2 Duo processors.
iMacs have been all alone in the upgrade section. Apple has to do it
eventually, so a new keyboard and faster clock speeds may appear in the
next few weeks, if the rumor is true.

It may be, even though the pics are a bit sketchy. I even heard from a fellow
seasoned Mac user that if this is true, Apple will also release the first ever
BLACK iMac, like that of the black MacBook. Boy I would love to get a hold on
one of those. Since iMacs are the desktop equivalents of the MacBook, a
MacBook keyboard makes sense and the color addition would be normal.

It's coming and we just have to wait for it. Yipee! Apple Rocks!

Web sites launch all the time, but they also shut their doors. We highlight 15 that bit the dust this year.

Top 10 news stories of the decade

Let the debate begin: Was the iPhone more important than iTunes? Was anything bigger than Google finding a great business model? CNET offers its list of the 10 most important stories of the '00s.
