You obviously dont get it do you so ill repost my response to your last column its not that your saying Apple cant do everything right its the fact that the article has nothing to do with the title the title is in fact for clicks, how about a title like "An Apple alarm clock?" or Foresters Apple claims are ludicrous" not Apple doesn't walk on water or Apple cant do everything right thats just bait. previous post: HEY DON YOUR AND IDIOT, While I agree that some of foresters claims are far fetched and some down right stupid, what does that have to do with Apple successful products? Hmmm Clicks anyone? Oh and yes Apple products are generally always successful they usually do it right. Ok so there's ONE product in their line that isn't a hit the Apple TV is not a so-called success...See you proved my point we are so used to Apple products being so wildly popular that although Apple TV sales are not stellar but still good we call it a failure, They sold more Apple TVs then Zunes....alot more it certainly NOT a failure. So Don next time think before you post anyone can be called a journalist just give them a computer and write for CNET. Cmon CNET lets get some real Journalism here not just some idiot trying to get clicks.

In case you didn't notice, this is an opinion blog, meaning he's supposed to have one. His is that Apple isn't god, as some, such as yourself, seem to believe.

Hi don,
I loved the first segment a lot. do more! now on to the apple fanboy rant---let me preface this by saying a own a mac mini, an MBP and an ipod. I bought them because I wanted to have a new experience with computing, and the elegance certainly is appealing,at least for the ipod and MBP. I am, however not an apple fanboy--yet I am guilty of being a fanboy in other ways. i.e I like the ny mets , which inspires me to take pleasure in the yankees having a hard time, before you start calling me a troll ,let me add this..I know that thought process is silly at best, envious at worst. yes I get that! my underlying point is--the prefix for the word fanboy is "fan" which of in itself is a prefix for the word fanatic.--not a word anyone wants identify themselves with. yet to some degree, I think most of us have been "fans" of many different things in life. so having said that, let us all look in the mirror and see if a fanboy is looking back. my guess is yes!
Peace,
Robin
PS congrats on the engagement! and
send ashley to go straighten out the dope that called you a troll. hehe

I wonder why people that use Apple products are labeled as fanboys. I have used Macs PCs, PCs with Linux, old dumb terminals in the early eighties. Why do people care what other people use for technology? I never see other platforms get the fanboy label for their users. If you care what other people are doing with digital life, you need to get one. Turn off your machines and go outside. Time for a stroll now....

Well, I personally don't label every Mac user as a fanboy. I know it's not like that. I don't use a Mac, but I'm think of getting one, and I pretty sure that wouldn't turn me into an Apple fanboy

But Apple has an overweight of fanboys amongst it's users, who seems willing to die for the company. Not many other companies has that, and therefore some people label every Mac user as a fanboy

Great podcast. I thought the call-ins would be average joes talking about recent topics in the podcast, but it was enjoyable listening to topics that were important to the callers.

I'm happy to say that I'm a consumer fanboy and enjoy the consumer's choices, without which we have no competition, no choices, no low prices. Consumers rock!
(only a little sarcastic)

A note on the call-ins, in my opinion, is that they were good discussions on good topics, but some of them were a bit boring as it went on and on. I believe I closed my eyes and almost fell asleep with the one on wireless infrastructure (maybe it wasn't because the topic was not interesting, but that I already had a good concept of the topic and that it was very repetitive).

As for the Apple fanboy and the comment from ez17, I would like to say that I agree with about 90% of Ron's opinion. I am not an Apple/Linux/Microsoft/Nintendo/Any-Thing-Else fanboy, but just a tech enthusiast . I agree with ez17's comment that a better title may be appropriate, but that doesn't discount the notion that some Apple fanboys kill it for them. Name calling is SO 3rd grade and I believe, and this is where I agree with Ron, is that we are able to discuss things, in this case Apple technology/products, in a well-mannered approach where we can give our opinions and discuss different aspects of each topic without being bashed on just because my thought isn't the same as yours. So for those Apple fanboys that are in 3rd grade, please, leave your Steve Job shrines and contribute to the discussion, don't just bash bash bash.

Hello Don!
Show 17. A very nice episode.
About the Apple Fanboy segment. I have to say, the rant wasn't that good. You have to work on that. :P It's a hard topic to rant on though. To your excuse.

But I guess I agree with you somewhat. But I wonder if the Apple fanboyism really is a "problem". I love Apple and I guess I'm a fanboy, of some sort. But Apple and Windows are different things, of course there will be tension between the two camps. Apple people are really passionate about Apple and Apple is like Microsoft's little brother and we really like to trump Microsoft in every way we can. Hehe. It's always like a little fight between the Apple camp and the Windows/PC/Microsoft camp :) And I think people enjoy it. Some people take it to the extreme though.

Apple is different. Some people choose Apple because they want to be different and like it. For some, it's just a great computer. The fanboyism, not the extreme fanboyism, is what I think has made Apple survive through the years and made it a great company. I think that other companies would give anything to have the kind of users Apple has. Don't you think? I think so. The Apple users are no fools but they certainly love Apple.

I also want to say that I think that the Apple fanboyism partially exist as a result of the Antiapple-people. I mean. It's like an equation. If something exist, so must the other. I also think that criticize Apple for having fanboys only ads more fuel to the fire. I also think that as much as the Apple fanboys like to tease Windows-users and AntiApple-people, I think that Windows users many times say, or write things about Apple just to start a fire. Don't you think?

Heh. I don't know if anything of what I just said makes any sense. But anyway. Thanks for the show :)

Well said! It seems like the fan boys leave us no choice but to attack their brand of choice at times. They put brands on such a high pedestal forcing us to overly redicule flaws just to prove a point.

Gee-that's mighty white of you Composer, taking that heavy burden of enlightening all those ignorant, fawning Apple fan boys upon yourself like that. Although I'd suggest that before you try to enlighten anyone else you pick up a dictionary. Also, I'd suggest you stick to ridiculing the fan boys, because regardless of whether love or hate Macs, Apple has had undeniably enviable performance lately, and if they can keep it up it will be far more than fan boys putting them on a pedestal.

You'd have more credibility when calling someone an idiot if you could write beyond the sixth grade level.
