What Is The Digital Home and What Does It Mean to You?

by Don Reisinger

As it's Saturday here on The Digital Home and not too much is going on except sun bathing and lemonade sipping, I thought I would ask you, the loyal electronics lover, what you believe the Digital Home really is and what it means to you.

So, without further ado, fire away in the comments and let's try to get a discussion going. My favorite comments will be posted tomorrow.

Thanks!

actually, i need help with something. my living room is set up with hdtv/dvr/sound system. but in my bedroom i have a new hdtv, a samsung blu-ray, and apple tv all with hdmi connections, but only 1 hdmi slot on the tv. is an hdmi switcher a viable way of having them all connected? i just bot a gefen, but wonder if i bought one that's out of date. it uses a dvi cable to connect to the tv, but has hdmi slots for the blu-ray and apple tv. are there switchers available now that are all hdmi?? also, my room is not a large, master suite set up. i would like to get better sound then what i get out of my tv, but don't want to go the whole surround sound thing. what is the best option? i am looking at the bose cinemate, but it seems pricy...

thanks!!

After 5 years, Firefox faces new challenges

Mozilla helped reshape the Web since releasing Firefox 1.0 five years ago. Now it's got a reawakened Microsoft and Google Chrome to reckon with.

There's a map for that: GPS or smartphone?

Almost every handset comes with mapping software these days, but standalone GPS devices are becoming more affordable than ever.
