HP is finally putting its $1.2 billion Palm acquisition to good use, the company said today.
"You will see us coming early next year with new phones," HP Senior Vice President Eric Cador said today at an industry conference in Barcelona, according to Reuters. He didn't offer further details on those devices, but did say they will be running Palm's WebOS mobile operating system.
Ever since HP acquired Palm earlier this year, industry watchers have wondered when the company would finally offer smartphones of its own running WebOS. Rumors have been swirling for quite a while now that devices would be coming sooner rather than later, and at least now we have a timeframe.
But there are still a slew of question marks out there. What will the devices look like? What version of WebOS will they run? On what carrier will they be available? For now, HP isn't talking--the company declined to comment.
