It hasn't, according to the game's producer.
In an interview with video game publication VG247, Square Enix's Hiromichi Tanaka said that though the Xbox 360 version of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game hasn't been nixed, the company has decided to "pause" its development until some issues with Xbox Live are sorted out.
"We're still talking with Microsoft at the moment, so there is no update as to when we'll start again," Tanaka told the video game publication. He went on to say that if the Xbox Live issues are worked out, the game should make its way to the console. He didn't elaborate, however, on the issues Square Enix is having with Microsoft's online-gaming platform or when it would be released on Microsoft's console.
Microsoft was also tight-lipped on Final Fantasy XIV's Xbox 360 development. A spokesperson for the company would only say that Microsoft is "committed to working with our publishing partners to bring the best games to Xbox 360," but had "no further details to share."
Although the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIV is being held up, the game is still on track to hit its scheduled Windows PC release date of September 30. The company also plans to bring the game to the PlayStation 3 next March. The PC version of the game will cost $49.99. Players will also need to pay a $12.99 subscription fee for every 30 days they play the game online.
