Novell's general counsel, Joe LaSala, is resigning to become senior executive vice president, general counsel, and secretary of Discovery Communications, according to a filing made with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

I had a few interactions with Joe while at Novell and really liked him. He's a quality person and this should be seen as a lateral move (though arguably an upgrade) in his career, as Discovery is a great company.

Best of wishes to Joe in this new role. Best to get out before SCO spends all the money it owes Novell.
