First thoughts on the Verizon LG Voyager

These are a stream of consciousness, but given the high expectation level of the LG Voyager, immediate impressions are important: Beautiful front screen, clean icons...comfortable keyboard under the flip lid, yet takes getting used to, especially for those of us who love the BlackBerry Curve...hmm, a bit heavier than I expected...wow, excellent call quality...EV-DO better than EDGE, but Sprint EV-DO on Palm Centro seems noticeably faster accessing Web sites...

Tell me that outside touch screen doesn't taste iPhone-ish!

...perfect, quick text messaging--I could become a teenager with this thing...hmph, no Wi-Fi...easy voice dialing...no flash, yet solid camera...I like the haptic feedback, a little like a game controller...I'm concerned it might be too easy to accidentally hit unlock icon--we'll see if I butt dial in the next few days...finally, before fully testing, I'd say if the iPhone had EV-DO, I'd take that over the Voyager. But it doesn't, so this LG VX 10000 is in the lead right now.

No need to rely on a touchscreen with this guy.

No need to rely on a touch screen with this guy.

Now to use it for a few days to see if my first impressions last!

No Wi-Fi is not a big deal. Once you got the Unlimited data plan in place why would you care about the WI-FI anyways.. If its for syncing.. its got Bluetooth which works fine. I looked at this device today.. and compared to all the Windows Mobile offerings of the past.. the voyager takes first prize. The interface is great, its got GPS!, and it rendered web pages really well and fast. Somethings that would make it even better which I am sure are coming is.. some sort of SDK or something so you could at least get some sort of SSH client running. A Flash Memory card slot would be nice... but then again.. is it really needed? (who knows it might have it and I didn't notice it)

More or less,. this is a great device and its on a great fast network. Somethings that might be drawbacks though is that if you travel a lot.. because of the EVDO/CDMA network.. you are going to have to take another phone with you when you are out of the country..

But over all I love this device.. but one thing to keep in mind is.. if LG can come up with this.. imagine what Nokia has coming down the pipes.. I would say that it is vitally important for your to have Worldwide access and if your entire life lives on your SIMM card.. you might want to see what Nokia has coming. Otherwise.. I think this is a great device and a really good alternative to the iPHONE..

Anyone know if it can do multiple recipients SMS.. something they forgot in the iphone.

I'm looking for real world Data usage and how the battery performs? NOT voice battery usage only. According to cNEt the battery only worked 3.2 hours on VOICE only. I'm really curious to see how battery hungry DATA 3G usage affects battery life? .. Is anyone seeing 45 mins to 1 hour with constant data usage?

Remember the iPhone has twice the battery life on VOICE already.
