NASA launches Web resource for 2012 predictions
Over the past few weeks, we've heard more and more about 2012 when, according to some, the world will end. Responding to all that talk with a healthy dose of skepticism, scientists at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration have launched a Web page to dispel the myths surrounding the momentous occasion.
On an FAQ page called, "2012: Beginning of the End or Why the World Won't End?" NASA wrote that much like the Y2K scare a decade ago, the end of the world won't come in 2012.
"Impressive movie special effects aside, December 21, 2012, won't be the end of the world as we know," NASA scientists wrote on its 2012 page. "It will, however, be another winter solstice."
According to NASA scientists, "nothing bad will happen to the Earth in 2012." The scientists wrote on the page that "our planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012."
But it's further down on the page where the scientists bring out the big guns. They said although the myth surrounding 2012 contends planets will align and crash into Earth, "there are no planetary alignments in the next few decades, Earth will not cross the galactic plane in 2012, and even if these alignments were to occur, their effects on the Earth would be negligible. Each December the Earth and sun align with the approximate center of the Milky Way galaxy but that is an annual event of no consequence."
In the end, it was a simple comment from NASA senior research scientist Don Yeomans that might sum up the agency's feelings on 2012: "There apparently is a great deal of interest in celestial bodies, and their locations and trajectories at the end of the calendar year 2012. Now, I for one love a good book or movie as much as the next guy. But the stuff flying around through cyberspace, TV, and the movies is not based on science."

Ughm... ... ... EXACTLY what does the Mayan Calendar have to do with Middle Eastern Astrology??? While you are correct in that the Mayans never said the world will end on Dec. 21, 2012 and that they only inferred that a new age would begin, you are totally incorrect in correlating the Mayan philosophy about the start of a new age in THEIR Calender with the Middle Eastern Astrological event of the beginning of The Age of Aquarius. Here's an education about The Age of Aquarius:

2012 isn't the end of time, it is the beginning of a whole new reality. The more scholars study the writings of the ancient Mayans, the more they are convinced that 2012 was not prophesied to be the end of the world, but the moment which will herald a momentous shift in human consciousness.
Exposing this ideal is what led me to write "The Aquarians," an adventure tale that takes four unlikely characters on a journey of scientific and spiritual discovery. Through them, a story unfolds that weaves together information about the Mayan calendar, dolphin echolocation, the Age of Aquarius, the 11:11 Phenomenon, and the idea that we must co-create the hopeful future we desire for ourselves and this planet.
Synchronicity and circumstance are not only the guiding forces at work in my novel, they are what shaped the story even before I wrote the first word. From the moment I declared that I was going to write a spiritual adventure, a never-ending string of unlikely miracles have occurred to make this book a reality. It is with awe and gratitude that I look back at the circumstances of the last few years, realizing now that all I had to do was keep my eyes, ears and heart open and my hands typing the information as it materialized!
And since the publication of "The Aquarians," the synchronicities just keep happening. The new wave of people - shamans, guides and earth-angels - coming into my life could only be described as pure magic. One of these is J. Walker, a talented rap artist who focuses his gift on sharing a positive message of hope to troubled inner-city teens. A person aligned with the ideals of the Aquarian Age, J. volunteered to write and perform the song in this video. I'm amazed that in less than four minutes, he was able to expose and describe the "shift" in our spiritual evolution that is taking place right now all over the world. You can hear more of J's music by visiting

If you choose to purchase a copy of my book, thank you. More importantly, however, I hope you choose to embrace the love, compassion, forgiveness and hope that The Age of Aquarius is all about. If we focus our intention on making this world a better place (and if nothing else, 2012 is certainly giving humanity a focal point), this planet will in fact become that place.
Peace, Love and Light,

No one needs to email the author, he already knows he was writing fiction. You need to get a clue. I could write a novel about how the Queen of England used to eat babies, but that wouldn't make it scientific fact, it would make it fiction.
1) why do we find bones of ocean creatures in places like Colorado or embedded in the sides of mountains if continental drift is soooo slow & how did oceans exist on these continents / i think a deluge would explain this better (magnetic pole shift ) is logical ,if the Earth were to flip this would explain why ocean creatures were found where they have been ,since the earths oceans would wash over the earth taking these creatures with it and depositing there remains where we have found them..
2) how we find other planets is that we look at one and calculate its "wobble" to find others around it .the "wobble " is created by the magnetic pull on one planet by another ,and this can and has disturbed other planetary body's in the past and collision's have occurred or magnetic shifts on the planet affected.
Back to English class as well!

There's some extremely interesting reading there!
The Earth is:
1. Undergoing a Polar Shift
2. The Earth is losing the protection barrier of the Sun
3. Something hit just Saturn and no one saw it coming
Regarding something that hit Saturn, it's a little hard to see asteroids all the way from Earth to Saturn's orbit. That far from the Sun, they're much fainter than near-Earth asteroids (because from their position, the Sun appears much dimmer), not to mention that the distance from us to them compounds the problem again (brightness decreases as inverse square of distance, for anything other than lased light.) So yes, there are lots of things we can't see, even with state-of-the-art modern technology. However, any notion that Aztecs could see something that top-flight modern tech cannot, is on its face not just ludicrous, but outright deranged.
"I want to party like it's 1999" just won't work!
For me Science will never go beyond the philosophy and belief. Its only a part of it. Many cultures have itentified the occurence of something big during that time. Go watch the tv show "Nostradamus:2012" aired by the History channel. (Watch atleast for once, its a good docu.) Watch it and you will find these guys are not fool? More or less something is sure going to occur. And why would NASA or other people ever tell you for even 0.1% probability of any such event. Wont this create a big panic among all?
Oh crap. I was hoping it was all a farce, but now that the government is confirming that it's all a farce, it must be true! Shoot!!! We're doomed!
To be honest, Science can be accurate but there is always a chance something is unseen.
To explain oceanic animals found on land. There is billions of years that this earth has transformed, mounts happened when plates collided which is why you will find oceanic fossils on mountains. That was explained in 6th grade(only reason I remember was because my teacher had a good looking chest; puberty, you can learn about that too)
Polarity shift is a good possibility and unpredictable. how it coincides with the Mayan calender with no actual evidence is drunken bar talk. (Drinking, you can learn about that too)
The principle of my simple rant is null and void all of this hearsay. How about we talk about it in....say...2 years and like 46 days? Oh shucks that's 2013...you know, the number after 2012. Math will teach you this.
that if " credible" scientists are not aware of any threats none exists which in turns also implies that the sum total of knowledge resides with them in total contradiction with one cardinal rule which states: " Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" which means that in the case of the " credible scientists " it is a case of evidence of absence of knowledge. Futhermore, to state that the planet has been just fine for 4 billion years is a complete condescending misrepresentation of known scientific facts. Was the Sahara desert always a desert? How about the atlantic ocean's " conveyor belt that violently and quite suddenly crashed and flipped as recorded on the deep ocean floor? One problem "the credible scientists" do not know the trigger mechanism behind it...the list is exhaustive...Now as far
as the Mayans and the year 2012 as an ending date of a world age (and not the world),The same state of affairs is present : No " credible scientist " has a clue as to what they were measuring in the same way to this day ' No credible scientist ,looking at the world age of the Sumerian measurement found in their King's list from creation to the flood, can tell you what they were actually recording .Since no credible answers on their part is forthcoming it becomes a subject matter up for " grab " hence, the charlatans and movie makers and anything in and between are free to take over as they see fit ( and make money in the process). The sad reality of this state of affair is that' honest and credible research in these areas becomes impossible unless you do not mind to add "Nostradamus " to your last name.

- Ok, first things first, I am not a freaking english teacher, I could careless if my spelling meets your aproval! If you can read it, that's good enough for me. If you can't oh well. I am not a sientist , not a novelist, or anything of the sort. I sit here and read coments from those who chose to make them and wonder if they are from the same planet, Earth. So we have been told that earth has been here and done fine for 4 bil years, ok, someone is very old. Funny how sience can tell us how old the planet is but for some reason they seem to stumble over things like, Stone hinge, The Piramids, yellow stone, and many many more. No one knows what happened in the past, so how the he** does anyone think they know the future? I don't know of one human that can tell me what will come the next day of thier own life much less 2012.

(29 Comments)Yes we know earth has been aroud for quite some time, with no problems. Well maybe they should explain that to the dinos! Sure earth will be here for a long time to come, but the question is will you?
As with your own life there are so many things that could end it at this very moment.
Let's think about this for just a min, earth has never in its life time been distroyed. If it had we would not have the pleasure of discusing it here and now. Life, as we know for a fact has been. Ask your know it alls how, and see how many differnt answers they can invent. Comets, astroids, volcanenos, pole shift, sun flares, plant x, omg should I go on? No one, and I mean NO ONE, knows the past of this planet for a garentied fact! And if they say they do it is BS> Everyone of us can look at so called evidence and form Ideals of what we think is the answer. That does not make it so, it is all speculation!
So the truth of the matter is, it is all fiction, becouse there is no posible way to know for a fact the answers that we all ask about the past or the future. If we new the true answers to the questions, then would we have any questions to ask? Example: Were Dino's realy real? Do you know the answer? Then would you ask this question?
Here is somthing to think about. Through out history many have said the day and time is here. It came and pasted just like any other day. But from what I know only one date has stood out more than any other down through time and it is 2012. Why this date? why not 2010, or 3015, maybe 1818? Pick any date you like it will never be as well known as 2012, nor will it have a history even close to compair to this date. SO my question is if there is nothing to this then why has this date been past on from people whom we know very little about down through time as if it were somthing very important that we need to know about? And it was not just one person's ideal, but that of many, and of very distant cultures, and religions. I would assume that thease people didn't sit down at the same dinner table and come up with the same date.
Is 2012 the end? My guess is no, but I will say that I am very interested to be here and see for myself. It is just to strange to just blow it off and say it is nothing don't you think? If you can say that nothing is going to happen, or that something is for sure going to happen, then Blessed you must be becouse you are the only living being capable of seeing what the future holds, and I bow to you sir!
