Tuesday at Nokia World, Nokia announced that a few of the most popular apps from iOS and Android -- Flipboard, Instagram, and Vine -- are at last coming to Windows Phone.
In total, Nokia showed off 23 new apps that are coming to Windows Phone. Those include photo social network Instagram, social news magazine app Flipboard, Twitter-owned video app Vine, and video editor Vyclone Pro. The Windows Phone app store will also get several new games, such as Temple Run 2, My Talking Tom, and FIFA 14.
The app news coincides with Nokia launching six new devices: Two 6-inch phablets called the Lumia 1320 and 1520, Nokia's first tablet, the Lumia 2520, and three budget phones for emerging markets, the Asha 500, 502, and 503.
Not all of the new apps will hit the Windows Phone Store at the same time. Flipboard will launch first with the Lumia 2520 tablet on Windows 8.1 RT and will come to Lumia smartphones in the next few months. Both Instagram and Vine will hit the Windows Phone Store in the next few weeks, so keep your eyes out for them. The Asha devices, which run on the Asha operating system instead of Windows Phone, are also getting new apps, including messaging service WhatsApp, ESPN Hub, Photofunia, PicFeed, and PicTag.
At the event in Abu Dhabi, Nokia also highlighted a few applications that are coming to Windows 8.1 RT, the operating system that's running on the 2520. Among the new apps are video app SlingPlayer, Flipboard, and sports app Goal.com. New games coming to Windows 8.1 RT include Rayman Fiesta Run, Rabbids Big Bang, FIFA 14, Asphalt 8: Airborne, and Dragon's Adventure.
