Contest: Carve a geeky pumpkin for Crave

With Halloween just a few weeks away, we invite our readers to participate in Crave's first techy pumpkin-carving contest.

Come one, come all, pumpkin professionals.

We want to reward all the under-appreciated pumpkin artists out there by announcing the "Carve a pumpkin for Crave" contest. We're seeking the best reader-created pumpkin featuring a geeky or technology-inspired theme.

We won't judge too strictly on content (as long as it has a loose relation to tech and/or geek culture), but we wouldn't mind seeing submissions with subjects such as video game characters, sci-fi movies, techy art, and so on. As we've already seen from your Instagram photos and your entries in the biggest "Star Wars" fan contest, Crave readers have a seriously creative knack.

To submit your pumpkin, send an e-mail to crave [at] cnet dot com with the subject line "Pumpkin Carving Contest 2012" along with a picture of the pumpkin, your full name (first and last), location, and anything you'd like to tell us about your creation. The submitted photo must include a non-digital note next to the pumpkin saying "Crave" to ensure you're not submitting a random picture grabbed from the Internet. The cutoff for submissions will be Monday, October 29, at noon PT. We'll publish some of our favorites in a gallery the following week, and we've even got a cool prize for the creator of our very favorite gourd.
