Google tech to help fight child pornography

After a long silence from Google on the kids front, the search giant is now regularly raising its hand to help children's advocates on the Internet.

Google said Monday that it has built custom video and image search technology for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The organization will use the technology to help identify and track down child pornographers at a faster rate, according the nonprofit. The group's analysts will use the technology to "sort and identify files that contain images of child pornography victims."

"Criminals are using cutting-edge technology to commit their crimes of child sexual exploitation, and in fighting to solve those crimes and keep children safe, we must do the same," center CEO Ernie Allen said in a statement.

The news comes weeks after Google introduced a new kid-safe site for parents and a YouTube video about Internet safety.

Child Pornograph is tragery, but a small problem.

The number of kids who exploited by online predators is a small number and too much time and resources is being poured into this problem. Granted it is a noble cause, but is it really...

The government is using this "Noble Cause" to do highly dubious things to catch so called Predators. Encroach on the rights of it's citzen and to justify highly sophicatic surveillance programs in the name or protecting children. It is insanely expensive and dangerous to all our personally liberty.

Look, it worth going after predators and deal with them according, but in justifiable manner and with bounds of personal liberty. I think I would rather accept the small risk to children than to throw away personal liberty in the name or protecting very few children.

How about we deal with real problem slike Drunk driving, and Black on Black violence.

It's Child Porn, not Online Predators

Trafficking in Child Pornography is a huge problem, Fred. It's not the money spent, it's the victims. And this technology helps to find these little voiceless victims by matching imagery far faster than human analysts could do it before. This effort doesn't take away from other crime fighting you mention, in fact, it frees up manhours for those things! It's a big win and we should be very thankful to see the contribution from Google in this way.

A small problem?

What? "So called Predators"? Are you kidding me? Anyone who harms a child this way is a predator. Ask any victim if they felt their exploitation was a "small problem". We must do everything in our power to stop these people from harming children. If someone creates or posts child pornography on the Internet they have published it for the whole world to see and they have knowingly committed a hideous crime at the risk of prosecution regardless of their perceived liberty. The reason I believe they use the Internet to distribute child pornography is because of the low risk of getting caught due to the anonymous nature of the web. We won't know how many children have been exploited on the Internet until the evidence is found.

Maybe to you it is not a worthy cause to spend money on but what if you had a child and they were the victim of child pornography? It is people like you who don't care about the children and it makes me sick. Would you rather we spend money on protecting the children or spending money on war and killing innocent men, women, and children? It only takes common sense on what the better choice is.

Child Pornorgraphy is not...

A small problem. Any adult that takes a child, strips their innocence away for their own selfish and perverted needs should be killed. Child will loose their innocence fast enough in this world without it happening because some freak wants to have sex with them. If Google or any other organization can save even one child's innocents and child hood from turning to a living hell I say bravo!

Stop Sexual Abuse not Sexual Knowledge

The sexually frustrated ?Christian? fascists have driven America into a sexual hysteria, where any kind of sexual experience outside of reproduction in a marriage is evil. They confuse innocence with sexual ignorance. Our wonderful record of successful (?) marriages, with almost half failing, is the result of sexual ignorance and false ?Christian? prudish sexual morality not. Sexual ignorance is the disease, knowledge and experience are the cure. It was not God who tried to convince Adam and Eve (fictional or historical), that the bodies He designed for them had shameful parts. Hundreds of thousands of Naturist families understand this and have no problem with their nude children interacting with ( not being abused by) nude adult friends. There are many internet sites with photos and video to prove this.
In the rest of society, the preteens are having the last laugh as they share nude photos and videos of themselves with cell phones and the internet, sometimes enjoying harmless, hopefully safe, sexual play. Abstinence is not Christian, it is perverted Gnostic thinking. The sexually dysfunctional, anally retentive prudes will just have to continue foaming at the mouth and gnashing their teeth. The ship has already sailed. It is too bad that Google, who claims to not want to do evil, has chosen to jump on the self-righteous ?Christian? fascist bandwagon. Forcing one religious morality on everyone is not wise.

I am happy Google is taking that step. Moreover, I am glad they are removing results from their search engines that contain child porn. In addition, the idea that Free Speech covers child porn is nonsense. Is an involuntarily involved baby in a heinous act expressing his or her views under the first amendment? No. That's why people do NOT have a constitutional right to child porn.
