Sony Computer Entertainment America announced on Thursday a full list of the games and hardware bundles that it will be launching for its PlayStation systems--PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation portable (PSP)--for the fast-approaching holiday season.

The games, both first- and third-party, range from "enthusiast" titles geared toward the traditional young-male "gamer demographic," to more casual and social games "This holiday season we are offering our largest line up of quality software and hardware products to meet every taste, lifestyle and budget," said Scott A. Steinberg, vice president of product marketing for SCEA, said in a statement.

Sony is pitching the older PlayStation 2 console as an affordable hub for casual games, like SingStar and Buzz: The Mega Quiz. The PS2 is also "getting a social makeover with limited edition ceramic white hardware" and a new price of $149.99--perhaps as Sony's answer to that other white gaming console, you know, the one from Nintendo.

Among the more highly anticipated Sony titles are EA's Rock Band and The Orange Box; Activision's Guitar Hero III; and The Eye of Judgment, a trading card-based game that Sony developed in conjunction with Hasbro's Wizards of the Coast subsidiary.

Most of those titles are also on the 360 as well, and none of them have the star power needed to sell consoles.<br />Maybe the $400.00 price point will work.
ehh not so dominating

Most of those titles are available on the 360. Haze and Rachet and Clank will be the stand out titles but not enough to have it be a dominating holiday presence. And the newly priced HD-DVD players will be the dominating holiday gift over blue ray.
Sounds like you work for sony!!!

Those titles are not going to turn out dominating numbers for sony...especially when you can already get them on XBOX 360, that has way better online multiplayer support. As for blu ray kind of hard to compete when top end blu ray players are $999 and you can get the top end hd dvd player (HD-A35) for $499 the same price as some entry level blu ray players. God Luck son you need it and bad!!!

What a major non-announcement

Clicked hoping to see something new that maybe I'd missed. Most of those games are already out, so they are in fact not releasing between now and Xmas.

I'm not saying this to start any arguments but I have both the 360 and the PS3, and for what we all have to shell out for these systems I strongly recomend the PS3, not just because of the blueray included drive, but a lot of extra things you dont have to pay extra for, that are included in the PS3, and putting a larger hard drive is easier and a lot cheaper for the PS3. Some may say things about the online experience, but it's free, and it is getting better.
