Internal Google video leaked

by Elinor Mills

Philipp Lenssen at Google Blogoscoped has information about a leaked video with details about Google Reader and the company's social efforts.

Lenssen was tipped off by a reader using the alias "Fanboy," who provided some notes from the video, which was presented by a Ben Darnell. Lenssen says he has confirmed that Darnell works at Google. The video is now offline.

The highlights from the video notes include: Google will create a standard for feed publishers to inform aggregators about changes and integrate more social features; "Mocha-Mocha" appears to be the code name for Google's social efforts across its applications; those efforts include a new feature called Activity Streams coming this quarter that will integrate Gmail's contact list; Reader will eventually recommend feeds based on previous subscriptions and activity; Reader will be released in several languages next week and will eventually be available in 40 languages.

No word back yet from Google on whether the video is legit or whether the information above is on target or not.

Google Reader

No other app in the past 4 years has transformed how I use the web. Reader rocks. Why? it's cross platform. I dumped all other RSS feeds, including Firefox, because I had a feed reader that tracked so well my sites and did it using the best interface, and I didn't have to move prefs everywhere.

Go Google!
