Netflix down
If you've been trying to log onto Netflix this afternoon and been having trouble, it wasn't just you.
At around 2:45 p.m. PDT or so, after 20 minutes of struggling to get onto the site, I tried again and found the message, "The Netflix Web site is temporarily down."

Netflix's Web site said the service was temporarily down Tuesday afternoon.
(Credit: Daniel Terdiman/CNET News.com)The site said the service would be back up soon, most likely by 3 p.m. PDT. But we shall see.
Update: Netflix now says it will be at least 3:30 p.m. before its service is back up and running.

My experience with Netflix has been great - I sure hope this gets fixed and isn't a harbinger of things to come.
Does anyone have any insight into what's going on over there, and why they're not providing more information? Has there been a DOS attack on the site or something?
Thanks.
ANY ideas when it's coming back up, and is the site being down going to affect when I get my first DVD in the mail? I kinda wanted to get in there and fix the priority on my selections before they send me anything.
amaze me. And they wonder why their stocks' dropping. 2
Things: #1 Customer Service - on par with with the DMV, #2
Throttling - If you don't know what this is, GOOGLE it because it
WILL happen to you. Now with the site being down EVERY
customer in the US has just lost a day!! Good going guys!! Don't
get me wrong, Blockbuster is no better (I've tried both), but at
least with Blockbuster, I can go to PHYSICAL STORE and pick out
a movie. If it weren't for their obscure, hard to get titles, or the
unwillingness of Blockbuster to carry such titles, this company
would be D.O.A.. And once Blockbuster Online finally get their
heads on straight and realize this, they are doomed.

- I'm not a customer of Netflix but when I went onto their site, the site told me that I was already logged in and that my name was "Michelle Dunlap" of Austin Texas (I have screen prints to prove it). Thinking it HAD to be a mistake, I poked around and saw that I was indeed logged in as the person and could see his/her address and other info.

(12 Comments)I tried calling their tech support to notify them of this serious problem but no one answered the phone. I'm not kidding about this - I'd be really upset right now as a Netflix customer because I don't know how many other peoples' accounts are readily visible.
