Microsoft readying Vista service pack
Microsoft is gearing up to begin testing the first service pack for Windows Vista, possibly as soon as next week, according to reports.
The company will issue a test version of Vista SP1 to a limited group of testers during the week of July 16, according to Mary Jo Foley over at our sister site ZDNet.
The service pack, which is expected to ship in November, will include performance tweaks to speed up Vista shutdown and lessen the time it takes to copy files, among other fixes.
Microsoft has not yet commented on the reports.
If the company does commence SP1 testing next week, it will be much earlier than expected. Microsoft had earlier hinted that it would not begin testing the service pack until late this year.

mind you ... but don't tell the retarded masses that!), they have
to get people to accept their warped figures. It's hard when no
one in their right mind would install the trashware to begin with.
Many people figured out that M$ can't do ANYTHING right the
first time and therefore have been waiting for SP1 to make vista
"usefull". So if they want to start selling virus - I mean vista -
they have to kick out SP1 sooner rather than later.
The curiosity will be in how many people fall for this scam. If you
like being a slave, if you like turning control of YOUR machine
over to the evil empire, if you really enjoy the limitations placed
upon you by DRM and if you really hate the world enough to
have in your possession a zombie machine spreading malware
and spam to the world - then vista is just for you! Otherwise, get
something else - anything else!
Now we just have to wait for the real service pack 1, in about two years, and maybe it will be usable.
Of course, they would have to shut off the back doors and invasive DRM for it to be usable, so maybe it will never be.
- Vista XP Networking SNAFU

- I can only hope that service pack 1 will fix the all pervasive Vista to XP networking problems. The internet forums are jammed with questions and "answers" on this subject. Nobody seems to have figured out one solution that fixes everyone's problems. Microsoft is mum on this except for "solutions" right out of their help files that don't work.

(3 Comments)How the heck can Microsoft expect Vista to be accepted if it doesn't network to other computers?
Why hasn't CNET exposed this unbelievable fault? Just search the internet for "Vista XP Network". The results are a real eye opener. I have been struggling (like hundreds of others) to get my Vista machine to network with my 2 XP machines. No joy yet. I'm ready to scrap Vista and go with XP.
