Yahoo CEO Semel steps down, Yang takes over
Yahoo Chief Executive Terry Semel is stepping down, and co-founder Jerry Yang will become the new chief executive, the company announced Monday. Semel will assume the position of nonexecutive chairman and serve as an adviser to the management team and board of directors. Sue Decker, former chief financial officer and head of the advertiser group, has been named president.

"This is the time for new executive leadership, with different skills and strengths, to step in and drive the company to realize its full potential--it is the right thing to do, and the right time is now," Semel said in a statement.
The company has been struggling to regain the leadership position it lost to Google in the search market. Yahoo also was late to counter Google's search advertising juggernaut, which has propelled Google's profits and stock price to record highs while Yahoo's have dropped.
A letter sent to Semel from Ed Kozel, on behalf of Yahoo's board of directors, is here. A letter written by Semel and sent to the board of directors is here.

Now Google is king and Yahoo is declining.
The other reason for Google's rise is that their stuff is extremely simple to use. Their stuff is also uncluttered. But Yahoo is a media company and media companies are about plastered advertisments.
To that end, Google understands what people like, don't like, and what they don't mind. Yahoo and MSN are simply places to put big flashy ads. Google isn't that stupid.
Let's face it, when people google, do they use Yahoo?

- Yahoo Brought This On Themselves

- I tried to work with Yahoo for Hosting and a number of other issues. If & when they did respond to a problem it was with a high degree of arrogance, misinformation and were a general nuisance. Basically they told you, you were an Idiot if you could not figure out how to work around their cludgy systems. Funny, I have been making a pretty good living at this business for around 25 years now. Never saw one single company doing such an effective job of Pi*( Poor Customer Service. I still use some of their free services but you cannot do business with them and expect any degree of professionalism.
