Sun to acquire Java cell phone tech

Sun Microsystems has agreed to acquire the intellectual property assets of SavaJe, a company developing software for Java-enabled mobile phones.

The acquisition is expected to close by the end of June, Sun said Thursday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Sun said it will share details of its SavaJe-related plans at the JavaOne conference beginning May 8.

SavaJe investors include VantagePoint Venture Partners, Ridgewood Capital, RRE Ventures, New Venture Partners, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Orange.
