The tech publication is ditching its print version and will no longer be distributed via mailboxes, according to a blog posting by the vice president and general manager of Infoworld.com. Instead, the content will solely live online.
And the reasons cited for this bold move: "Remove the distraction of maintaining and fretting over a costly, nearly obsolete distribution channel."
The print world, which includes newspapers, increasingly is finding its readers don't want to be couch potatoes. They want to participate via blogs, video posting or posted messages. That's a difficult thing to deliver when the printed word arrives carved in stone, via doorstep or mailbox.
