Demo's most surreal demo: The Nabaztag

by

Violet makes the Nabaztag, the WiFi-connected plastic rabbit that communicates with you via lights, sounds, speech, and its moving ears. It'll read you RSS feeds, light up green when your stocks are up, or droop its ears when traffic on your normal commute route is clogged. Or whatever else you want. It's also two-way: when you move its ears, it can send that information to another Nabaztag unit and it will mirror the ear position. Great for sending semaphores, I guess.

At DemoFall, Violet showed the new Nabaztag: It adds a microphone (weirdly located in the bellybutton location) and an RFID reader (for sniffing out your friends' passports?).

Truly, this is one of the weirdest gadgets ever made. Which is of course its charm. I'm putting it on my wish-list right now.

Size matters in the smartphone world, and new parts hint at a 4-inch iPhone and iPod Touch. Also this week, IBM's not a fan of Siri, and get jamming on the gTar.
