HDTV for dummies
Can't tell the difference between HDMI and 1080i or VGA and DVI? Never fear, says the Digital Entertainment Group, the trade organization charged with promoting the next generation of high-definition video (HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc).
Setting up and calibrating a new high-definition TV set involves more than plugging in to an outlet and clicking the "on" button. You might need to subscribe to additional channel services, or buy an extra tuner or CableCard. To combat confusion that might deter someone from delving into HD, DEG has produced an educational guide with brief explanations of the necessary equipment and options when shopping.
Of course, it's not all completely selfless--DEG is backed by major studios, production companies, record labels, consumer electronics manufacturers and DVD rental and download services. You can get the guide at www.digitalentertainmentinfo.com or a variety of consumer electronics retailers.
